I5-4670 or i5-4690 for a new gaming pc ?

Im planing on building a gaming pc and i am going with an i5 but i dont know which is better, where i live the 4690 is around 20$ cheaper then the 4670, i am pairing the cpu with a r9 280x so which would be best ?

i would probably get  the cheapest i5 and later, when the it doesnt cost so much anymore, i would upgrade to an i7 4770k

Well the 4690k is better than the 4760k, and you just said it was cheaper so it makes sense to go for it

 

Or if you arent bothered about overclocking get a cheaper i5 , if you have the budget get an i7

The 4670k is cheaper then 4690k but the 4690 is cheaper then 4670

no the 4690 is locked, i suggest the 4690k because it can be overclocked if you chose to and a z97 board

4690. If you want to overclock get a i5-4690k and pair it with a Z97 board. If not overclocking, 4690 with an H97 board.

4690 will work with Z chipsets but you can't overclock, so you might as well just get H.

 

Z is for CPU's with a K in the end, or else you can't overclock.

Yes, with a UEFI BIOS update with some motherboards.

 

It's much easier to use Z97, and it supports a few more features that could be useful in the future. Either way, in Canada, Z97 is only $5-$20 more than Z87. (Z87 prices haven't dropped rock bottom yet.)
