Why did YouTube upload so bad?

I had uploaded this one video half a month ago and I just now remembered it and looked at it. The quality on 1080p on YouTube is horrible and I don't know why. It was like that when I had uploaded it at the time too. The video was recorded at 1920x1080, 60 frames/second, audio bit rate was 99kbps and video bit rate was 49,295kbps. It is in mp4 format.

Without knowing the actual used codec (MP4 is just a container) it's hard to say. YouTube usually does some sort of compression, but this is kinda ridiculous.

I'd suggest converting to an other video format - may I recommend MainConcept MPEG-2 in the .m2t container - and see what happens.

I think the video bitrate took a dump, since that's the only video I can play on my Dell in 480p with that much motion. And it looks terrible.

If you want to try and reupload it, that might be a better result, but on YouTube you're stuck with it.

No, really. : :P  my internet isn't that fast but it's fast enough for me. It would go faster if I was directly connected but I moved my desktop in another room so it's on wifi which is missing 1 bar.

No, really. : :P  my internet isn't that fast but it's fast enough for me. It would go faster if I was directly connected but I moved my desktop in another room so it's on wifi which is missing 1 bar.

The youtube compression looks awful with fast moving scenes.

 

Also, a 50Mbps bitrate is dumb for YouTube. Just use a CRF value of 20.

I meant as in trying to make it look better. I know you can delete stuff (even though they made it a little harder to get to Video Manager).
