Hey!

So I have this old HP market pc that hasn't missed a beat for 4 years. I was away from home for about a year so I haven't been using it. Well I came back in around april and continued using it for gaming and photo editing. Lately when I've tried to game for longer than around 1-2 hours, the graphics card (geforce gt 320) hits around 110 Celsius before crashing. When I restart it, it says that it bluescreened and the code for the failure directs (BBCode: 116) it to drivers or the video card itself. I've tried lowering the clocks and undervolting the card in hopes of that it wouldn't overheat but so far nothing has helped. I've also pulled the side panel off but that only delayed the overheating for around 10 minutes.

At the moment I don't have the money to upgrade my pc so any "cheap" alternatives how to get the temperatures lower? Remember that I've checked the motherboard and it doesn't have any extra fan pins soooo extra fans in the case are not an option.

Yea, I was thinking about that possibility so maybe I'll get some thermal paste tomorrow and see how it goes.

Have you tried cleaning the GPU it's self from dust and replacing the thermal compoud? That should make a big difference.

Yes, I vacuumed the whole case when it crashed for the first time.

Is the fan clogged with dust? a little dust can make a huge difference.

If the case has a fan hole in the back, get something that pushes heat out of the case. Even with hot air in it, while the side panel is gone, it can remain in there. Try having a fan push air out while having good intake from the front. Clean any just you have out of your graphics card. And make sure the GPU fan is still spinning.

don't vacuum your pc, this creates a metric shitload of static electricity.

Use compressed air to remove all the dust from the GPU heatsink, then replace the thermal paste.
