It's probably to combat the recent DDOSes. Though it hasn't happened to me yet.

Yeah, it also combats regular users, community building and user sanity: Fuck captcha.

Besides Linus keeps selling the fuck out of Squarespace and constantly mentions how they can scale up and down as traffic need arises so nothing but a massive attack would actually affect us and that's clearly not happening right now.

Whoa that edginess. Going the distance when as of right now, it's pretty rare. You've been the first to complain about this captcha.

I thought there were ways of getting around it?

I'm sure I've seen something that renders the captcha completely useless

It's been proven that captchas do NOT prevent any bots or anything from getting in. It's just an annoyance for regular users.

5 motherfucking times I've been asked now, apparently if I close the chrome tab it will ask me if more than a few minutes pass, fuck this shit I'm out of here until this is resolved.

I have yet to see it like most people in this thread so I question why it seems to be coming up for you.

The forum isn't hosted by SquareSpace. The LMG website is, but the forum is hosted by Cloudfire.

Cloudfire is a massive service that is DDoS'd by hundreds of hackers. Any site using cloudfire can go down but they've held up pretty well so far

Dude this forum doesn't use Squarespace lol. Squarespace is for linusmediagroup.com. The forum uses IPB.

QFT.

And even SS can be brought down by a DDOS. Hell, MS's Azure system could be brought down. This stuff isn't foolproof. Some stuff is just more resilient to attack.

And I haven't seen it once, most people haven't seen it; calm your panties and clear out your cookies/saved data and whatever else and try again? Maybe a different browser? You know, do some trouble shooting instead of mouthing off and laying blame where it might not even apply?

Evidently I've been flagged as an attacker for some reason I cannot close the tab for more than a few minutes without being asked again and again and again (It's been like this all day, each time without fail)

So if LinusTech or Slick or any Admin decides to remove me from the attacker list on the cloudfare side (Or let me know if I inadvertently did something to trigger this other than using 3 different IPs within a few minutes due to power failure in my house) I'll gladly come back to entertain you with lame jokes, bad temper and nasty language, but if this doesn't happens or I don't come back to look and you want a more personal berating or whatever, you can tweet me @The_Misanthrope

kthxbye sadly.
