Worth buying Gigabyte r9 280 over Sapphire?
I heard people saying that r9 280x= hd 7970 ghz edition so i figured r9 280=hd 7970
I don't care about looks because my case is closed, doesn't have a window and is under the table.
The R9 280X is actually a slightly lower clocked HD 7970 Ghz edition. The R9 280 is actually an HD 7950 Boost edition.
The Sapphire coolers are usually better than the competition, even their cheaper Dual-X variants. But since this is the R9 280 we're talking about, get the Gigabyte one. The R9 280 is a relatively cool card and there wouldn't be a big difference between different manufacturers in terms of cooling performance. The Gigabyte R9 280 has a much higher boost clock than the Sapphire Dual-X one (I assume it's the Dual-X because you're looking at the cheapest ones). The Gigabyte has a boost clock of 1072 Mhz while the Sapphire Dual-X has a boost clock of 940 Mhz. That's a big difference. Get the Gigabyte one.
