Hey guys i have a AMD FX 8350 at stock which is 4 ghz but when im browsing the web or watching a youtube its at 40c - 42c and when i play games it gets about 64c and that is really hot for a AMD CPU. I am using a hyoer 212 EVO to cool it and its inside a fractal design define R4 windowed version which has 2 front intakes i added one and 1 rear exhaust all of the fans are fractals silent series r2. and my house is usually around 71F. Do you guys think i should contact AMD about it or buy better thermal paste since im using the default one. Tell me down below what do you guys think it could be.

He was hitting 64c only. And my last AMD CPU usually runs at 80c on stock cooler. And it never throttled on me.

The maximum safe temp for the FX8350 is 62*C on the core and 70*C for the socket.

the amount of misinformation going around in this thread is painful to see

The maximum safe temp for the FX8350 is 62*C on the core and 70*C for the socket.

safe 24/7 is indeed around 62~65c, but for synthetics around 70c is fine. Safe temp for the socket is +10c, so 72~75c respectively.

64c at 4GHZ with a Hyper 212, something there is very wrong.

My chip hits like 48c at 4Ghz (albeit, not using a hyper 212)

For one, AMD temp sensors are horrid. Secondly, that's fine.

You are perfectly safe! Thats actually the same temp my AMD 9590 gets to at full load with a 120mm radiator. Although mine does idle a little warmer that.

Yeah, especially since this is not benchmarks, just gaming. It should definitely not be that high.

Too bad there's no way of confirming if the temp sensor is faulty or not...

To the OP, you should replace the TIM, reseat the cooler, and if you still get the same temps I would RMA if possible.
