How do I stop this fan from buzzing?

AtilaCXL

I got a new fan recently for the side of my case, installed it, works a treat, but it has a consistent buzzing noise. I know it isnt the normal operating noise because I tested it before installation. How the hell do I stop it from doing this?

Is it running at full rpm?

Or RMA it since it's a "new fan".

RMA?

"Return merchandise authorization". Basically, you return a faulty product in exchange for the same product in hopes it actually works. If not, then getting a refund, a different fan, and/or a fan controller might be in your future.

The fan doesnt make this noise when its not mounted to the case. It's not faulty

So there was no buzzing before you installed it? It might be vibration or turbulence, or could have coincidentally went bad when you installed it. Take it out again just to verify.

Then try rubber grommets or something. I don't know since I'm not that knowledgeable on fans.

Mine does the same thing. It's not the fan. It's vibration and turbulence. It's normal. The case metal will act like an amplifier because it resonates.

I believe this will explain the problem your having it's basically just turbulence from the grill you have, using some rubber spacers does tend to help a little to dampen the sound.
