Set up your ventilation/cooling in the case properly for good airflow.  Pick out cases that are known to help with this.  Buy a psu by top brands such as Antec and Seasonic.  Make sure you maintain it properly cleaning out dust and what not that gets in the pc every so often.  Also the first sign of anything going wrong do not keep using it and deal with the issue right away.  Troubleshoot it immediately.

Too many ****ing games!  Back log 4 life! :S

Do a clean install every 1-2 years.

Use ccleaner.

Uninstall any crap you don't need/use.

Dust your PC with compressed air every 1-6 months.

Back up your files.

Make a system image repair disk.

Use a good antivirus.

Use chrome.

Enjoy your PC.

Tip #1

Don't F up

il_340x270.278742914.jpg

Don't click on suspicious links? Don't give out personal info to things you shouldn't, like a Nigerian princess or French gadget editor. Oh, and don't ever, ever eat s'mores over your PC while the covers are out.

Upgrade it all the time with beefier and better parts over and over again :P

A gaming PC is not an investment it's a money pit.

And make sure to get new parts the second they're out no matter how weaker or stronger they are. Yes, throw away an i5 for the new AM1 Athlons or get rid of your 8GB RAM for the newest iteration of 4GB RAM. DO IT! I command thee!

What are friends?

The angry flesh bags the live outside your sanctuary. They're worse than even the level 159 zombies in Runescape.

What are friends?

What do you mean? You've never seen them?

The little people that walk around dressed like royalty sipping tea, eating cake, playing board games, and laughing at your jokes.

Honestly, I can't get them to leave.

Hello.I need help with my new gaming PC. I would like to know some tips, tricks, anything else to help me make sure that my gaming PC runs smoothly for long time... Please help and thanks

  • be patient - nothing ruins a good set of parts faster than an impatient assembler
  • only change one thing at a time - when tracking down problems or tweaking performance
  • don't go benchmark crazy - your mileage will vary and most of the time you won't notice the difference
  • pushing hardware to its max is fun and leads to credit card use - for longer lived components don't run things flat out

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

in short long run means keeping components clean & dust free , you should do maintenance atleast once a year ..

This means :

Cleaning your cases inside & outside(vaccum it) ,

Dust of components like hdd/ssd outer surface ,

the cooling fan from the stock or custom cooler it's guarenteed to accummulate dust . reccommend you do it like 6 months or so,

dusting the PSU off the dust bunnies & look for tiny any tiny ant farms inside the psu (happens)

reapply the thermal paste to the CPU & reseat components & dust off the empty slots.

remove dust from the keyboard between the keys,

dust can cake up in finstacks & radiator fins this can obscure airflow & raise temps significantly

cover up the monitor with the palstic bag it came in when you're not using it or going away for a while

Other stuff you can do is :

Get a good line interactive UPS so that the voltage is steady to the PSU instead of using a surge to wall (helps you overtime)

Upgrade your PSU to a gold standard if possible.

unplug optical drives that you dont use that often

cover up the open slots on the back to prevent dust from entering into the case (optioinal)

dont keep the GPU overclocked to max everytim , same goes for the cpu , Only when you needed.

Details separate people.

Didn't know those existed. Or is it after the stupid combat update? :P
