I finally got my first noctua fan a NF-A14 ULN, and it SUCKS. This thing barely moves any air, yea is quiet but what good is it if it will not move air. I got it on sale for $15 and my $8 cooler master fan blows way more air than this. Also the noctua fan left a heat pocket in my system as it was not exhausting the hot air out of my case.  I don't see how so many ppl say noctua is the best yet here I am with a CRAPPY fan from them? I should have realized there was something wrong with them as they don't use CFM to rate there fans when most other companies do. They use that to hide the fact that for the price you pay they do not match up to cheaper fans from other companies. This will be the LAST noctua product I ever buy, and its not worth the $5 to ship it back for a refund. I use the noctua low noise adapter on my cooler master fan and now it is just as quiet and still blows more air.

Maybe that is the TRUE resin Linus dues not use them, his air penetrator fans must be better.

well first off you bought the ULN, which is ULN = Ultra Low Noise, so you bought the fan that is already spinning at a very low speed. The best one would have been to get the FLX version which allows the fan to go between three different option. Also you can convert the unit Nocuta uses to CFM with a simple conversion rat.

Oh, i thought you meant turn the sentence around, i was so confused xD

.....What?

Anyways like everyone said you should have gone for the PWM version... That particular fan isn't about moving lot's of air, it's more about static pressure, it should perform quite well in front of a radiator or heatsink despite the low RPM.

You know, even under the hypothetical scenario that you bought the right fan and it wasn't performing up to your standards why would you give up on a clearly praised brand over 1 bad product?

If people are putting up with their color scheme you know it's for a reason :P

So when the research say noctua fans are great that's all a lie, only SOME are great? That sounds like BS you are diluting your selves just like console owners do when they think consoles are better than PC. even if I was to get the flux fan with the L.N.A. will have the same rpm so how will it do better? I wanted a fan that was quiet and moves air and more rpms mean more noise. Also if a cheaper fan can do a better job with the L.N.A then noctua is a waste of money. It does not matter if they have other fans if a company sells a bad product they are a bad company, and do not deserve your money..

Funny Linus thinks his forums are friendly, yet here we have several insults from its members. No wonder console owners hate PC people, to many jerks.

Sorry that you were getting insulted. But lets make this clear. YOU bought the wrong fan. I have used noctua and seen the performance myself. I have seen DOZENS of tests with them. Not just linus. You are the one mistaken. But I'm sorry that people went straight to insulting you.

Air Penetrators are also great.

This generally is a friendly forum, but you jumped straight on attacking a company when you haven't done much research yourself.

There is a reason Noctua don't hype up CFM, there are plenty of high CFM fans that are complete rubbish. CFM is only part of the story.

The ULN fans are great, but only in certain situations, there aren't many fans that would perform well at low RPMs in front of a radiator... these do. If you want the absolute max CFM then you want the PWM version not the FLX or ULN.

The forums are friendly, you just made a statement that would rile up the majority of PC enthusiasts, telling people they are wrong before hearing them out will cause people to act unkindly in any situation. It's okay not to like Noctua, there are alternatives but the fans are pretty decent performance wise, you just have to buy the correct type for your situation.

Nobody has insulted you, you create an angry thread about a company that deserves all the praise it gets, alot of the people on the forum own noctua and the experience has been nothing but pleasant with them. It is your fault for buying a ULN fan then expecting it to move loads if air. Then you start crying because noctua doesn't use CFM...convert it yourself, that's like saying a car company is crap because it advertises it's max speed in kmph rather than mph. When making a thread this angry critising a company because of your bad expierience which is your fault anyway, you can't expect people to be al freindly. Just stick with your coolermasters.

Well for fan thats max rpm is already same as my idle rpm (A15 PWM) at 800.... What DID you expect? The reason for getting low rpm fan is to keep lower end systems quiet as they don't need super cooling. Thats why you get higher rpm fans since you can always lower rpm.

Your logic is severely flawed. All companies make bad products in some way or another.  Just because Nvidia and AMD manufacture the abominations that are the GT610 and the 5450, does not mean they are horrible GPU companies.

Also, only one person threw what I would consider an insult at you, the rest merely said some form of "you dun goof'd".  We want you to understand that it was your fault and learn from your experience, not try to blame it on the company that had no hand in your mistake.

Funny you all still say I did not do research on there product, but you all still say noctua is good. Can even one of you post anything saying that ULN Noctua don't preform well? So far you all say I got the wrong fan meaning its bad. Noctua a company that you all say "deserves all the praise it gets" makes crappy ULN fans. Where out there did any of you find that info? Because EVERY site I have seen will say nothing bad about noctua.

As for the insults you claim did not happen, yea im mad about getting a crap product. I rant about noctua and you jump on me. What did I take from any of you? How did my anger at noctua hurt any of you? Simple answer I did not! You all hate the fact that I don't like something you believe is perfect. You can't deal with the fact that someone thinks different than you so you insult and try to belittle them. If you still deny it then you need to take a long look in the mirror.
