Hi guys,

Just thought that I would share with you my first time seeing an OLED TV in person. I do realise there would some posts where other members have already discussed their first time seeing one. However, since seeing one myself I've gotta say that I've never seen real blacks on a TV ever and this was just like looking at a picture on a wall that had a black - ground with flowers because that's what they were showing in store on that OLED TV at the time. I also saw a plasma TV in person today (having never seen one in person, I know, why the heck not?) and you could say that OLED is just a more energy efficient version of plasma display technology.

I can't wait until we see OLED panels in your average consumer monitor, however I think we'll see them in premium monitors at first. I do wonder how colour accuracy is with OLED displays, although I do imagine that they'd be near perfect. I reckon that the day we see OLED panels in your average consumer monitor you might just see IPS an VA display technologies take a back seat for quite awhile or permanently.

All I can say is that OLED displays are.......AWESOME!

They look flashy because most of them are oversaturated as fuck with candy colours. I hate that. And OLED won't come to monitors because they burn out real fast in comparison.

Well this one didn't look over over-saturated at all.

BTW, How much did you want an excuse to say over-saturated as...well you know the word?

If I want to say it I just go comment on some Samsung phone review. So not much.

eventually OLED will become very cheap much much cheaper than LCD

Inkejet printing will make them extremely cheap vs older methods

u will literally print them

pretty sure TVs and monitors will use RGB instead of pentile since PPI isnt a huge concern

if color is an issue just calibrate it

phone manufacturers really dont care

Easy. Just call up your OLED manufacturer of choice, and ask them what you want, and for a couple of 100's of million of dollars, things can be made, just for you.

Also, OLED burn fast, and the colors are wrong because they make the pixel of this fashion, because Blue burns out the first, so they put more of it, red is second, and green last.

Different manufacture might have a different layout, but essentially blue is the biggest, red may or maynot be bigger than green (I guess it depends on long they expect to have the display working correctly, or perhaps they found a way to make it longer lasting). Illumination limit is another trick to extend the life of an OLED display, but then your screen is not as bright.

Also, the OLED display features an algorithm system which offsets colors to compensate for the wear of the OLED's primary colors, and another algorithm to compensate for the color changes that occurs at different brightness level. You may recall Nokia phone had it's red's appear more orange at certain brightness levels (this was fixed via firmware upgrade)

Hmm, well that's a unfortunate :(. Well then they need to come up with some other great display technology. Maybe they could look at plasma display technology and find some way of reducing the power consumption of that technology. I'm sure something will be created that's just right :).

Yes :/ The technology is amazing and allows cool things to be made, but as long as the mentioned flawsn aren't fix, don't expect any Tv's or monitors at the consumer market, let alone affordable.

It's on some phone and smart watch, as colors accuracy is not important, and they probably assume that you'll change your device after 3 years.
