Choosing a CPU for Gaming

I'm running an MSI Z87-G45 Gaming Motherboard (LGA 1150) with 32gb of 1600 ram and an XFX Radeon 7850 2gig GPU. I need to choose a processor that isn't going to be overkill but won't bottleneck the system. My only use for the system is gaming. Is the new i3 4360 3.7GHz going to get the job done?

err why you need 32GB of RAM?

go for the i5 Core 4670K

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.

Get an i5 level. i5 4670k is my suggestion.

4670k should be fine, stupid amount of ram.... you do not need.

Want to go cheaper? using a single GPU? try out an FX 8 core.

the i5 4440 is the absolute minimum for gaming. And it's teh least expensive thing that will fit in your motherboard if you have already purchased it. If you spend a couple of extra bucks for a 4670K or even better wait for the 4690K they will perform even better.

follow what Analog says

and please don't buy 32GB of RAM!!!

16GB is the max you should get. 8GB is the general size ppl go for

if you buy z87 mobo then you have to go with K series processor or it's just a waste.

^^ This!!! 32GB is absolutely useless for gaming. Please don't do that! Save your money and invest it in a better GPU or CPU. For gaming I wouldn't go past 8GB. You can always add more if you like.

I thought most games wouldn't benefit from 4 cores...

The i3 will not bottleneck even a 780Ti, if you feel you want the i3, it is not a bad choice at all.

4670k would do

You do NOT need 32 gigs of ram to game.  16 gigs is optimal, but even 8 gigs would be fine as others have said.

You will really struggle with even an i5 streaming 1080p to twitch, my 2500k even at 5ghz struggles a lot.

Ok, also I have all of the parts EXCEPT for the processor purchased (ram was free just FYI everyone) so I need an LGA 1150.

Hmmm, do you have the funds for an i7?

The i5 will do OK if you lower res to 720p or lower though.
