Hey everyone. A few weeks from now I should be coming in for a landing in the PC world. Now, can some of you guys out there tell me about Rust and how everyone is always telling about how it is just full of hackers and douchebag admins? Also, I look forward to triple a titles but me personally, I like the open-world survival games...things like Rust, DayZ, ARMA III and oh boy...The Forest. Can anyone write me a quick review of some of these games as I do look forward to them but I want to hear what you guys have to say about them.

Rust is a great game, however the community have been complaining about the lack of content updates. Lots of accusations toward Garry about abandoning the project.

 

DayZ Standalone currently has more players than Rust, and is often updated frequently

 

If you have time and are just looking to bullshit around and not care about $20, i'd say check out Nether. 

 

I would watchout for:

Yes H1Z1 and The Division do look promising. But I hear of the devs of Rust making a "New Rust" I've seen pictures and it looks fantastic. I have a fear that I may have to be a bandit in Rust just for the sole reason of protecting myself. I have been convinced that 90% of the community will kill a freshly spawned person for no reason. I don't want to be a bandit...I love helping people and making the game a more enjoyable experience...

I won't lie, I've never played DayZ, never gotten around to it.

You should check out The Forest, its a survival horror game and I'm almost certain its open world.

I hear in The Forest at the beginning of the game to get away from the plane and not to attack the cannibals. They say if you attack them immediately they are hostile towards you every time they see you, but if you don't attack them they aren't hostile for some time...

The forest is only in beta, and currently does not save your items when you log out...

Hopefully this will be fixed soon though.

Actually it's only in Pre-Alpha.

 

Beta is a long long way away.

They made a quick fix a few days ago.

The Forest is awesome but it lacks content because it's alpha.

Hi, I havent played Rust so I cant comment on that one but regarding Arma III and Dayz I suggest you to pick Arma III over DayZ standalone for several different reasons:

 

1. You can install DayZ Breaking Point mod into Arma III which is basicaly the same thing as DayZ standalone but you will play on different map (both are in development right now and have their bugs).

2. If you find out that you dont like DayZ you still got game that you may like and still play (Arma III)

3. Arma III got really good mods which are fun (example - Zeus, Wasteland, Demolition, DayZ Breaking Point (check on youtube), ... and many others) +mods and maps from people that are rated by other players and you can download them on Steam workshop just with one click of a mouse.

4. There is also Single Player campaing in Arma III but you can also create your own missions in editor or make your own mods if you are into that kind of stuff.

5. There is big negativum for both Arma III and DayZ standalone (probably Rust too) .... If you play alone, you will get bored quickly but if you play with friends then the game get exponentialy more fun. This problem is bigger in DayZ and Rust where making friends is really hard due to getting shot (almost) everytime you encounter someone and you want to start communicating with him. In Arma you get bigger chance to make friends.

 

I hope I made it clear enough. If some of your friends play one of these game just get it, it is definitely more fun when you play with someone. If you dont have anyone playing it, get Arma III probably. You can play Arma III with me if you decide to buy it, just contact me over PM if you do. (I am GMT +1 however).
