PC Build /w 2550$ CAD budget

Hi guys,

I want to build à gaming computer with the part bellow. I want to know what you can offer me to chose. I want to buy everything from Canadian website because I don't want to pay for duty.

There is what I want:

-CPU (Intel in preference and I will use it for gaming and a bit of video editing)

-GPU (Nvidia in preference, like the 780ti)

-Screen: 27' 1080p. Something simple but good for gaming and good for video editing. I want a screen with DVI for video and I don't really need audio jack, speaker or webcam on it. Maximum 5 ms

-Case: I want a full tower case with cable management support and custom water cooling support. I want something that I won't need to upgrade or change in the future. I need 2 usb 3.0 in front /w audio jack for basic headphones

-PSU: I want something that work good and that can support cable management. I don't need the master beast PSU but something that can support all those components and that can support à upgrade for an other GPU like 2x780ti in the future.

-Keyboard: I don't need a keyboard with macro buttons. I don't play MMO games. I want something simple, it can be a mechanical keyboard but it doesn't matter. I absolutely need à num pad.

-Ram: 16Go of ram in preference of 1600 mhz in minimum.

-CPU water cooling: It's optional but if it work in the budget I would like to have one. Something simple

-Headset: I want something with a good sound and a microphone with it or good headphones like 7.1 audio and a microphone that can be in my desk

-Motherboard: I need something that can support multiple upgrades. 2pcie 3.0 for 2 graphics card. Usb 3 and usb 2. Raid compatible for future upgrades and sata 6g

There is all the part.

I want a build that can be use for a lot of time and that can be upgraded if needed. I don't want to pay more than 2750$ in canadian including shipping and taxes.

There is all the part that I chose:

Thank you.

You should wait for the 4790K, it will overclock a lot more.

A samsung 840 evo is more reliable than that SSD you chose.

And if you can make the stretch, a H105 or H110 would perform a lot better :)

And there are cheaper PSUs than that, so you could shave off some cost there too. A 750W would be more than enough for this system.

You should add an HDD as well. An 120GB SSD is definitely not enough. Get a 1TB HDD or 2TB HDD on top of the SSD.

Cpu is the 4790k when it will be available in couple weeks for ~$30 more.I chose the glacer 240L because it is one of the best coolers out there and also it is expandable which means custom loop very easily.

Gpu,i decided the 780 because the 780ti is very expensive for a little bit more performance and i put a 850w psu for SLI ready whenever you feel like it.

Also,i took the initiative to add a 1440p monitor because it's just awesome. And it is IPS. You will not regret it. Tell me what you think. (:

Please use http://ca.pcpartpicker.com to organize your parts. It will make it easier for people to find what you are looking at, and show you lower prices than Newegg if such prices exist.

If you're just gaming, a 4690k (soon) will do nicely, unless you need to build it now, in that case, go with a 4670k.

Build:

CPU Cooler:  Corsair H100i 77.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler  ($104.99 @ Canada Computers)
Motherboard:  Asus Z97-A ATX LGA1150 Motherboard  ($152.58 @ DirectCanada)

Keyboard:  Thermaltake eSPORTS POSEIDON Illuminated Wired Gaming Keyboard  ($89.99 @ Memory Express)
Other: Headset - Around $100-150 ($150.00)
Other: Case - Around $100-150 - ATX Mid Tower or Full Tower ($150.00)

I chose a more higher end PSU, because I hate having to 6+2 PCI-e power connectors on the same cord with higher end cards. Just making sure your 780 Ti has sufficient power.
Unforunately, I couldn't manage to squeeze 1440p into your budget, so I compromised with 1ms 144hz instead.
I also fit in a mechanical keyboard. I left the case and headset choice up to you, because those are totally personal.
I also added a 250GB Samsung 840 EVO for your OS and maybe some games.

EDIT: The above post has a lower end video card, but some 1440p IPS eyecandy, would choose the above one, but keep mine in mind :P

Hi guys,

I made my decision and I just want to thank you so much. I don't think that I will made better choice without you.

There is all the link of the part that I chose.

The total amount with taxe and shipping is 2,729.02$

I didn't take your monitor as you suggested because I want a 27 inch screen and I don't want to spend to much of my money on it.

That is badass! The 1440p screen was just a suggestion because a 27'' 1080p has low ppi. Nice build.

One question though. Is it the 4790 or 4790k? If it's not the k version,i strongly suggest you wait for it.

Thank you.

Your choices are a bit misguided to me like your choice for CPU cooler. There are better cases than what you chose and well let me just put my choices for you to peruse.

CASE 1 $199.99 CASE 2 $129.99

CPU $393.96 Don't pre-order it wait until it comes out and then it will be less.

GPU 1 $659.99   GPU 2 $619.99 This is your original GPU choice $529.99

MOBO 1 $199.99  MOBO 2 $239.99

For the water cooling i would recommend you visit/contact Dazmode which is in Canada for a great kit.

All your other choices could be changed too but if those are the ones you like then leave it alone.

I own the white H440 so I can vouch for it; it is a truly amazing case for only $119-129. The 760T is also gorgeous, albeit a bit expensive.

I personally don't trust Thermaltake with cases.

I don't really have time to put a whole build together right now, but my insights would basically be as follows:

1) for that price, and for your intended use, I would probably be going x79 with a hexacore.

2) if the software you use uses CUDA, great. Stick with the 780 Ti. If it doesn't, or especially if it uses OpenCL, you may want to look at how it performs on the 290/290x. It may be (probably is) a good bit faster.

Thermaltake cases  are good as well as all their other products.  I have worked with a few including the one that was chosen but at this point in time there are way better cases

Are you limited to newegg or are you open to other Canadian shops?

The 780 ti is overkill for 1080p and a bad value. Either get 1440p or get a cheaper graphics card and save the extra money for future upgrades.

Are you just trying to get a nice gaming system for a good value or do you just have $2.5K to blow?

That CM Extreme Power Plus is great and it was from a previous build and still works like a BOSS!  :P

On my next build i will how ever get a new PSU and my top makers are thermaltake, Seasonic or Enermax PSU.

If you really need cuda, then go for it, if your programms work well with opencl i would suggest you buying a 290x, it will perform better in opencl than a 780 with cuda, for the money you could potentionally go for x79, not needed though. For the case, i dont suggest getting a full tower before you know 100% that you will do hardcore watercooling. They are bulky and annoying. Infact, you can fit 2x360mm rads in an h440. As for monitors, you may get something like a qnix qx 2710 off of ebay. Dont have the internets to do a build because im in greece right now and have .18mbps down and .5 up, but i hope this helped anyway

Not only on newegg but I want to buy all the kit at the same place in a canadian online store and I want a good gaming computer and a computer for a bit of video editing. I don't want to spend that money just for fun.

I love the build but I already have a 3tb HDD and my own official windows 8.1. You forgot tu add a keyboard and a headset but with it it become the same price as the original build that you made. You can propose something else that I chose for the keyboard and the headset. Just be sure that all the kit can be buy from the same website and the price including the shipping and the taxes don't grow up over 2775$.

Those things are so personal that it's really up to you as to what fits and "feels" best to you.

Yes I know that some things are more personal but I would like to know about the preference of the other because I want to see other things and other review on thing that I probably never saw or never knew. I want to know what all people think is the best with my budget so I can make a better choice on all things that I could buy.

As for keyboard, the k60/k70 (corsair) looks really nice, but IMO pretty much any mechanical keyboard with a decent design and a backlight should be fine, unless you have a particular preference for switch type. Headsets are funny too, as head size and how much sound quality matters make a big difference.

I would probably go with a k70 and either a corsair 1500v2 headset, or your favorite pair of headphones (if you have some nice ones) and a modmic.
