Currently on a 28 inch 60Hz 4k IPS panel but I can't really tell any difference between gaming at 4k native, 4k DLSS Quality, or 1440p native when I'm getting the same framerate. So seems a waste to not use the extra horsepower towards higher framerate as opposed to running 4k. But I'm wondering how much of a pain in the ass it is to use an OLED panel for a monitor, as I want to read the net, watch pornhub youtube, do a lot of coding, etc where I'm going to have very static images that can burn-in and I have heard OLED isn't great for text rendering. I love gaming but don't want to buy something that's only going to be good for gaming but feel like a downgrade for everything else in comparison to the 4k IPS I'm using now. Is OLED a pain to use for a PC monitor for those of you running one? Is Micro LED a better compromise between something that excels as a PC monitor for general use while also being killer for gaming with the better HDR? Or does it look nowhere near as good in motion as OLED does when gaming?

The new 5th gen panel from Samsung seems to basically remove text fringing as it uses a newer RGB stripe sub-pixel for its OLED.

I read a lot of text and I waited until this panel came out before I order one, I WILL be buying a new 5th Gen OLED next month on release.

There are a few different sizes and refreshrates but I think all the MSI monitors come with 3 year warranty including Burn-In warranty of 3 years.

The one I am looking at is the MSI MPG 341CQR.  A 34'' Ultrawide at 360hz.

LTT even made a video about it. Its worth looking into the new panels if you are worried about text or burn in.

This is the one I am looking at.

Are the MPG the new ones? This one is a little higher than I want to spend (ideally around $550) but if it's really amazing I'll stretch a few bucks. Seems like a waste buying a 360Hz panel I'd probably never use at anything higher than 100Hz though lol.

Don't have the desk space for an ultrawide with my speakers, PS5, and Switch 2 already barely fitting on my desk around my 28" 16:9 monitor haha.

I think they have used the MPG name in previous models too.

The one you linked, the MPG 271QRX, released early 2024 so its definitely not 5th gen OLED.

32'' Monitors will come later but I a few 27'' have been announced as well during CES.

Anything will be better than that monitor. Really OLED is fine I guess unless you're dwelling on desktop from dusk til dawn.

I have the LG 45" 1440p UW and love it.  I use it for gaming as well as general use, and on my work from home day as well.  Even with a large pixel pitch, it's still a great monitor and easy on the eyes.  Current OLEDs are definitely better than 1st gen.

I have a 32in 4k QD-OLED and a 48in LG C1 and (both with ClearType disabled) don't notice any of the "text clarity" issues.

I actually really like my 4k panel (Asus TUF Gaming VG289Q1A) but OLEDs have smoked IPS whenever I have used them in gaming. Hell even my OLED Vita from 2012 still looks way better than my Switch or Switch 2 lol. Not looking for really high framerate gaming, as I expect I'd be gaming from 50-80 fps most of the time, but FreeSync is a pain on a 60 Hz panel because so many games don't have good framecappers. So while some games like Spiderman Miles Morales and Cyberpunk have excellent frame caps so when I set to 60 fps I never get tear lines, with others like say Final Fantasy VII Rebirth or Control I have to go into the Nvidia app and set a 57 fps framecap to keep the game from ever rendering above 60 fps and thus giving tear lines when I have FreeSync enabled.

Yeah but low Hz really for desktop use at least 120Hz is huge improvement let alone games. Also fps or not, can provide clearer image. Yes some games suck with fps cap still can use other programs like RTSS if something doesn't work.
