I need help deciding AND/INTEL

Go to solution Solved by Mbarton,

all of you who posted help me.

Thanks

I've decided to go intel 1150 and just deal with low-mig igpu until i get my gpu.ill post my pc part list when ive decided all the parts.

Hey guys im getting ready to build (REBUILD) my system.i currently have a AMD am3+ 6100 6 core cpu. but after seeing that amd will be closing that socket i'm thinking of going fm2 or 1150(or whats best i don really know intel) for a good amount of time ill be without a GPU so a APU would be nice.but (and there are allot of but in this) apparently intel cpu`s have integrated graphics to.I have a budget of 150/200USD$ but if you can sell it i might go higher.also as i've been looking around i haven seen any apu with more then 6 cores am i just not finding them or do they not make them.

If you plan to go use integrated graphics you should know that AM3+ processors like the FX 6300 that you are looking into doesn't have that feature, neither do the 8-core ones that some of the others are suggesting. There is no integrated graphics on those chips and you will definitely need to buy a graphics card. Only APUs on the AMD side feature a graphics processor onboard. On the other hand the entire Intel's 1150 line up has that option. The graphics of the APUs are much better than Intel's solution, but the general performance of an APU is slower.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 - 3900x @ 4.4GHz with a Custom Loop | MBO: ASUS Crosshair VI Extreme | RAM: 4x4GB Apacer 2666MHz overclocked to 3933MHz with OCZ Reaper HPC Heatsinks | GPU: PowerColor Red Devil 6900XT | SSDs: Intel 660P 512GB SSD and Intel 660P 1TB SSD | HDD: 2x WD Black 6TB and Seagate Backup Plus 8TB External Drive | PSU: Corsair RM1000i | Case: Cooler Master C700P Black Edition | Build Log: here

On the lower end, AND is usually better.

AND is great, but most people go for OR instead.

with this budget keep your pc. apus are weak . save more for 1150

what should my budget be for 1150 (i do want a mid-high end cpu) and would that cpu be able to play any games like a APU?

what's wrong with your 6100? is it letting you down? if not just buy a gpu.

your misunderstanding (not trying to be rude) i already have that cpu and i know it doesn't have a integrated gpu.thats why im thinking of going APU or intel

Thank you for posting :)

will be a very good cpu for a long time. the igpu is good for gaming at low-med

Thats not bad and it only has to hold me off until i save for a really good gpu (200/400 range)

if you want a smaller board the price goes down like 20$.the i5 doesn`t bottleneck no gpu.the apu will. so if you will add a dedicated gpu,go intel for sure

But if you can't save more get a MVidia (ha... sorry ) GTX750 and a new PSU (saw that "generic" PSU in your profile :P)

That'll be far away better than your onboard graphics ._.

Like this:

You're here <--------------*8 Million Light-years*----> Oh hi!

Another 4 GB stick of RAM would be plenty if you fit it in your budget :)

***JUST A SUGGESTION***:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

Memory:  A-Data XPG V1.0 4GB (1 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory (put this with your actual 4 GB stick, then you'll get 8 GB and dual channel :))  ($29.99 @ Newegg)

Video Card:  EVGA GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2GB Video Card  ($119.99 @ Newegg)

Power Supply:  Corsair CX 430W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply  ($29.99 @ Newegg)

Total: $166.97

(Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)

Supper thank you for that detailed response.and umm... i was stupid to get that generic PSU (IK) it surged on the 2 i got the same way. im now saving for a corsair one a good one.

id get another 4gb stick but they say mixing ram is a bad idea and i kinda want 16/32 but ill probably end up getting another 4gb stick until i have enough for a good kit

I think that tipped the scale.ill be getting the cpu you recomend or a higher end one and as for the motherboard that the first thing im buying (because im modding my case for th 24-pin and stuff)so i got to find the perfect one.

Thanks allot for your help.:)

I've mixed RAM, sticks will use the lowest frequency and highest latencies form the "worst" stick

Wait a moment, I'll take a look for any RAM deals :)

EDIT: *hhhhhnnggggg* GPU in combo... but $13 out of budget...
