Was trying to download some torrent game and the defender noticed that it has a trojan. It did remove it, i also downloaded malwarebytes to check, no threats or viruses on the pc, but it's still persistant that there's a threat on it. Anytime i try to remove it, it just resets the window. The are no suspicious processes in the task view, everything works fine, how to deal with this bug? Here's a video demo:

Boot into Safe Mode with Networking and run ADWCleamer.

You can also run free online scanners like ESET and TrendMicro

you should use something like Everything by void tools to searcch for these files that defender is picking up to see if they are actually persisting or coming back.
Defender can have trouble with itself.
you should also use something like network miner and let it run for a few hours while your pc is unused, see if you have abnormal network traffic now, something going out or coming in that isnt just regular traffic.

idk, pirated games are fine if you take precautions. like for one, your pc is now a glorified console. do not use it as a regular pc when you are pirating games, keep all your legitimate software, web traffic, usernames, passwords, all on another pc.
and invest in some usb hard drives and take backups with some disk imaging software for fast recovery in case of issues like this, like take a backup before each install and just revert if you run into um, problems.

Lol.

There is no "remove the virus from the pirated software"

The pirated software has had the virus woven into it. Dump it.

Regardless, you just infected your computer.

the pirated software is removed.

pirate bay.. i could never pay for a game tho, don't got that in me. Should just use fitgirl

The bay is notorious for having extra junk in their stuff. Better to stick with well known repack straight from their own sites, like the one you mentionned.

If you are not willing to stop pirating games from ill repute websites... I would strongly suggest you invest in an antivirus suite that will protect you a bit more than Windows Defender.

WinDefender is fine for most people... But when you start doing piracy stuff and willingly executing exes that may be infected... you might be better off with something like BitDefender Total Security (not just the anti virus, but the package with firewall and other extra cryptolocker protections)

But, why? Why pay for anything really? Really weird mindset imo but then you also gotta live with the consequences ig

dude im not working 48hrs a week to buy games lol, ofc if i made more money than i am atm then it would be a no brainer. Funny to think that according to ur analogy everyone automatically has money to shell out 60 70 bucks per game. If it was 20, i'd consider it ''maybe''. But 80 for dark ages is just pure insanity. Anything over 20 bucks for a game is insanity imo

Steam has amazing sales, you dont always need the newest right?

Plenty of awesome games you can get for 10-15 bucks, even RDR2 is 17 bucks on sale right now.

well idk bout that, dark souls 3 never made it lower than 30 euros, skyrim dips to 9 euros sometimes but its usually more than 30 regularly, last of us 1 is still 60, same as re4, etc.. I dont play many games and those that i play are usually pricey, as i said dark ages 80 euros?? i mean ill play it for a month then forget abt it, doesnt make sense to buy it for me (my opinion!!)

I dont think 60 bucks for 100-200 hours of gameplay is a bad deal.  Thats like the cheapest form of enternainment there is in terms of dollar per hour.  Dark Ages just came out, you can't expect a sale on it just yet.

I am not going to sit here and argue with you.  You are entitled to your own opinion, I just dont share the same thought at all.

Companies and people who make games deserve to get payed for their work, you dont work 48h weeks for free do you?

Enjoy you viruses.

100-200 hrs is a month of enjoyment, essentially a 80 monthly subscription to me, not worth it. Everyone is entitled to their opinion ofc and i don't think we're arguing nor i'm trying to, anytime someone has a different opinion than the rest is automatically weird.

The difference of game developers working 48hrs a week and me working for that same amount of time is a substantial difference in pennies made.

Bro I maybe buy 1 game a year for 60 bucks, most other games are considerably cheaper, there's really no moral high ground here for you at all, if you don't want to spend 60 that's fine, there are plenty of options, but piracy isn't one of them (I'd understand a one off but regularly? Nah then my comparison is apt, why pay for anything?)

Consider this, if pirating intellectual property results in lost revenue for the developers, are they not within their rights to raise prices to balance the losses due to theft?

Same principal applies to retail and shoplifting.

maybe you should look into a hobby that fits within your budget. 🤔

Pirated games are just a way to gain access to your desktop PC. That's the only reason people post them online.

Well depends on the group really. There's 4 main camps:

1. Drm crackers to show off

2. Bounty hunters

3. Malware spreaders

4. Piracy by policy

Then you have crackers that work togheter with repackers. You have repack sites that have like a near flawless record on not having junk included as they work with group that are in point 1,2 and 4 and also have a verification team. You'd be surprised that game cracking is done by like less than 30 people globally. Its actually a super cool topic to look in to as a bunch of point 1 people end up working for drm companies and then a void is left where a new few people come in.
