Apple vs Windows

Acoleman18

To be clear this is not about the prouducts the selves and more about the os and how they differ.

Explain yourselves and tell which one is better?

Compare latest windows to osx mavericks please.

Thanks

I use both Win 8.1 Pro and OS X Mavericks.

I use Mavericks most of the time because it does simply work better on my mac. I also have all the software I need and generally like the inter face better. This is subjective though. I use Windows for games.

Windows 8.1 is actually pretty good, (allbeit after installing StartIsBack, and I use a thing called Clover File Browser, which adds tabs to Windows explorer making it more like a web browser)

OSX 10.9.x is also pretty good. I use both a day-to-day basis and they're both as good as each other in all honesty.

OSX is far better for any web development work. - Also very good for SSH/anything terminal. OSX's terminal is miles ahead of Windows' CMD

Windows is far better for gaming.

Source: I have a windows 8.1 pro machine and a macbook air. They're both good.

But, if I had to pick one over the other, Windows would be the winner, ONLY because of games though. Other than that they're pretty much equals, just takes time to get used to the little nuances of OSX.

Neither is better. They both have their uses. I have Windows 8.1 on my desktop gaming PC and OS X Maverics on my Macbook Pro. Flexibility!

Im not a fan of either of them. I liked the user interface in windows 8 but that's about it.

I only use windows because it's the only OS that has support for all of my games. I think that OS X looks and feels better.

Honestly if OS X had more game support, I would (without hesitation) switch to it.

The fact of the matter is, it doesn't have the game support Windows does. This is the only reason that I decided not to go with a Hackintosh this time around. (I still run Mavericks in a VM though, just for X-Code)

well i dont know how to use OSX  and i dont really want to hackintosh  not to mention there arnt many games on there soooo...

also u need to upgrade the OS for the latest OpenGL which is odd when u think about its kinda like directX on windows

OS X is UNIX based, I rest my case.

Seriously though compatibility, fanboys (tons and tons of them) and misinformed users (often caused by before mentioned fanboys) is the only thing Windows has going for it.

Build a hackintosh and have the best of both worlds. I use mavericks for everyday use and windows for gaming and some school stuff that I can't do on mac.

Well, Windows I find is better for gaming, even on my petty rig. Just seems to run smoother, and less issues. When I hackintosh my current rig, it was really good for video editing and photo shopping etc. I could run some lower end games like Quake 4 and some other older game that I can't think of, was ok but not as good as my windows drives. I'm sure a Proper mac would have been great with the games, but there just too damned expensive for something that you can't upgrade the hard ware.

But in saying that too, OSX runs realy quick out of the box, because it's writtern for specific hardware, and not every brand and its dog.

Both have their own merits. Depends on what you want to do with it.

Because of my AMD CPU, I could only get as high a lion 7.5 with my build, before I got bored with it, and killed it.

LINUX MASTER RACE

It all comes down to if you're willing to buy a mac or not. LINUX MASTER RACE

LINUX MASTER RACE

Hackintoshes are cool but osx usually caps them in some form as it is not specifically optimized for LINUX MASTER RACE

them. Windows on the other hand will run optimally on whatever, provided the hardware is recent enough. LINUX MASTER RACE

Linux!!!

I'll give my reasons. I don't use Mac OS X much so I can't compare the two although I'm not big on Apple's GUI. Windows has it's own problems like wanting to be the only os on your computer. That greedy bastard.... My biggest love for Linux is that if something ever gets messed up, it's more of my fault/user than it is the operating system.

I like both equally, honestly. If Mac OS X had all of the programs and games that Windows does, I would happily buy a Mac, simply because Windows hates me, and OS X likes me.

And I like OS X even more starting with the interface and functionality of OS X 10.10 Yosemite. And iOS 7.

I use both OSX and Windows. I like them both for what they are. But I usually use Windows for my gaming and OSX for programming and such. Like what other users here have stated if OSX had a awesome game support on it I would switch to OSX for the most part. They both have their ups and downs to them.
