Well for some reason my account information keeps getting wiped off of the laptop every now & then.

When I start up GTA4 to kill some time, if it won't sign in offline. I can't get to the save data.

Does anyone know of a hack to get rid of it, because it sucks. By which I mean in the game. I really don't see why anyone should have to sign in to a live account to access save data on there own computer.

It's stupid!!! especially when I can't get Wi Fi, or the server is screwed up.

It could be that I ran disk clean-up with everything checked too. Still I hate it.

Literally every Steam review I see of GTA IV complains about Games For Windows Live, so you're not alone.

I have never had an issue with GFWL other than forgetting my passwords and forgetting which game goes with what account.  I have been playing GTA IV all night on MP and it has been awesome.  I really wish I had done this sooner.  I never played MP GTA IV before but I did try but nobody joined my games.

Anyway I hope MS saves GFWL and with it all the games on it.

Too many ****ing games!  Back log 4 life! :S

  • 2 weeks later...

Try uninstalling GFWL & re-download from MS reinstall it. I had it to were it would not sign in because it was outdated on a PC that I did not use for a while. Reinstalled, sighed in with it, & it started working again.  My problem is that I have downloads from it. Just another way that MS Live sucks. Type Games for Windows Live in search bar on support sight.

 Hope one of these helps.

I hate it too. It makes playing Dark Souls a huge pain in the ass.

Remember to be signed into GFWL client to play games for it. Game should auto sign in if logged on. Just make sure that all of the boxes are checked on the client. Oh, & my problem is that on my laptop if I log out of Windows, it will too.

GFWL has purpose on Xbox, not PC. It should not have restrictions on saved data on that PC. It's ok for me if it on a PC that's on line. If it's not on line & not logged in I'm screwed for the day. I always check it the night before I use my laptop at work because there is no Wi-Fi there. GTA 4 won't access saves if not logged on to live account. Stupidly annoying. Needs to be logged in for off line use.
