Hello everyone, experienced a bit of issues with my PC yesterday. Going to have to say I'm not torrenting anything again, and being 100% more careful then I was before about installing programs. Pretty irresponsible of me as an educated member of the PC community kind of embarrassing to be honest.

Just thought I'd give a shout out to these people for helping me.

Special thanks to Equinox and Moosie for the effort they went through.
For those who are curious, I basically went through and deleted all my partitions, reinstalled windows, brought drivers from my fathers work pc, and am now running ninite to install my basic programs as well as drivers then creating a restore point and setting up MSE to do a nightly scan and will be running MWB at least once a week.

You know paranoia isn't really the solution to this problem, neither is stopping torrenting

but if it works for you, I guess you're free to do as you please.

It's not really paranoia my friend. I'm just being more cautious & meh, I can never seen to get a working torrent without bullshit anyhow.

Happy to help, man!

I think it's safe to say that everyone here has had some sort of situation like this where we just can't get it done by ourselves, and it's always stressful. That's what the community is here for. :)

And no need to go overboard with the AV. Just be careful with what you download (and who you download from) and make sure you have periodic backups so if something does go wrong it's a simple fix.

Happy to help! ^_^

The only files you can safely torrent are PDF... stay away from .zip/ .rar/ or any other type of compressed file and never ever download software... especially those who do not require an installation to run.

MSE will not protect you from adware and will not detect a lot of virus. Do think about purchasing a licensed copy of ESET NOD32... its fairly cheap, runs without using too many system resources and is updated 3 times a day.

No worries. I've been in the same situation. I've wiped my drive to realize I had no extra DVD-R's to burn a windows .iso, and since my Dell tower doesn't accept USB drives to boot from, I was SOL for the day.

Not having the wi-fi drivers at windows install can be a SOB, one you'll probably never repeat it again!

As far as torrenting, I stick to the uploaders I know. Yify, Chattchitto, Reloaded, Skidrow, extremezone. Yar matey!

Always read the comments before downloading any torrent. And always stick to those legit uploaders. :)
