Because they are mainly just for E-Peen. Much cheaper RAM will do just as well.

This.

If you're budget constrained, than dominators aren't for you. I mean, you certainly can get them, but do know that you are only getting them for aesthetics.

Build quality as well. I really appreciate being able to bludgeon people to death with my ram.

Dominatior ram is one of those things, you get what you pay for but man do you have to pay for it. I also put top line Antec PSU's into this list.

They're a waste of money for anything but looks.

Ram is ram. Brand doesn't really matter. It's used in videos because it looks nice.

Has a lot of features that I like, but what other full tower cases would you suggest

750D, Define XL R2, Antec 1200 V3 (Little too flashy for me but very easy to work in) , but like I said it's just my personal preference. Was stated as more of a joke. The switch 810 is great, I just personally hate plasticky stuff. But my main full-tower suggestion is usually the 750D.

@JoeyDM is right

yep. if you got the cash yep why not. but you can get cheaper. Why buy a Mercedes when a Toyota does the same job.

If you're paying $299 (which is more than your motherboard) for 16GB of DDR3 1600MHz 2133MHz...that's meh.

Might as well get a 16GB (8GB X2) G.Skill RipJawsX DDR3 1600MHz kit for $195. http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=186_912&products_id=18886

  • DDR3 1600MHz
  • 10-10-10-30 timings, 1.5V
  • Lifetime Warranty
  • Matches your red & black colour scheme

Or 1866MHz variant for $199. http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=186_912&products_id=21326

If you want it in black, G.Skill Snipers. http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=186_912&products_id=21325

I use to be a dead-beat (still kind of am) for Corsair memory...considering I've use them since DDR1...but I've gradually switch to G.Skill. Just as good - if not better.

I'd use the extra $100 on either:

  • 24" monitor (IPS? 120Hz?)
  • Up the 250GB SSD to 500GB
  • Up the Power Supply to 850W for SLi
  • Towards a 780 Ti
  • Custom / Expandable water-cooling loop (i.e. Alphacool NexXxoS kit)

AMD Ryzen 9000 Rig

  • AMD R7 9800X3D + Alphacool CORE 1 w/ Performance Mount Kit + Thermal Grizzly AM5 Contact Frame
  • Gigabyte X870E Aorus Pro Ice
  • 32GB (16GB X2) G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo RGB DDR5-6400
  • Sapphire NITRO+ 6800 XT Special Edition + EKwb Full Cover Block
  • Custom Loop w/ 2x 360mm Radiators
  • WD SN850X + WD SN750 + Samsung 980
  • EVGA P2 850W + Red/White CableMod Cables
  • Lian-Li O11 Dynamic EVO XL

AMD Ryzen 5000 Rig

  • AMD R7-5800X
  • Gigabyte B550 Aorus Pro AC
  • 32GB (16GB X 2) Crucial Ballistix RGB DDR4-3600
  • Gigabyte Vision RTX 3060 Ti OC
  • EKwb D-RGB 360mm AIO
  • Intel 660p NVMe 1TB + Crucial MX500 1TB + WD Black 1TB HDD
  • EVGA P2 850W + White CableMod cables
  • Lian-Li LanCool II Mesh - White

Intel i7-8086K / Z390 Rig (Decommissioned Q2' 2025)

Intel i7-6800K / X99 Rig (Officially Decommissioned, Dead CPU returned to Intel)
Intel i5-4690K / Z97 Rig (Decommissioned)

AMD FX-8350 / 990FX Rig (Decommissioned)

AMD Phenom II X6 1090T / 890FX Rig (Decommissioned)

Yeah your mobo is crazy overkill that is mainly for e-peen. Still a rock-solid board that will probably never fail you though.

What do you mean by overkill still kinda nooby to things like this

Yeah asus is absolutely great. If you don't know what features you need though I wouldn't drop a ton of extra money on a board that probably won't improve your performance much/at all. Just grab an Asus Z97-A.

Also if you don't mind me asking, why get a full tower for an ATX mobo? Will look kinda tiny.
