In regards to the recent WAN show, I thought I would post a core memory.

 

My Mom went to GameStop (formerly EB Games in Canada), and got me Metal Gear Solid 2 and a 24 pack of fudgsicles.

 

I was high on Tylenol 3's while experiencing this masterpiece.

 

Does anyone else have any good gaming memories while recuperating?

Fighting Ruby weapon while being hazy by fever, and won somehow.

I had a motorcycle accident in 2016...

I broke my left leg, both wrists, 3 ribs broken, punctured right lung and a lot of bruising.

 

I was on some quite strong pain meds for a while and all I could manage to game was some easy side scrolling games but I had fun

I imagine civ on low difficulty. Just click away and don't get stressed. 

 

Tried learning to play Galactic Civilization 3 while drunk on 1 (or maybe more) liter of German beer. I had some trouble making sense of it

It felt like the accomplishment of my life, even though it'd only do 20 fps on basic maps. Those were the days; Sandy Bridge mobile, no GPU, and a 640GB hard drive with Windows 7 Home Premium. At of course 1366x768. I wore out the click button on that laptop, soldered on a new one, and wore that one out too.

I used to play Left 4 Dead on my 2008-9 era MacBook while dual booting into Windows. I can respect the commitment.

In 2017 starting my 2nd all nighter in a row and basically delirious (3d final waiting for a render to finish) and started playing undertale at like 9 ish completed it 12 hours later and man tears were had. Such a great game.

 

Render finished at like 3 perfect in one go and was ready for the presentation later that day. So couldve slept but I was HOOKED.

 

Bonus was that I ended up doing the presentation in my pyjama's because I put on my wrong pants ajd then promptly after mine fell asleep in the aula. Passed too with -0.5 for improper dress

I had heart surgery about a year ago, spent alot of time in bed afterwards. Before surgery I moved my PC into my room and set up the monitor on a small table next to my bed. Played Farthest Frontier, it helped taking my mind off of things. Still play the game randomly, but it was the perfect game for the situation.

My father is currently recovering from cancer treatments, and reading your stories helps.

 

He is the only one in the family that could beat the final level in Super Mario Bros.

Just had hernia surgery last week, loaded up a few old games I never got to as a kid on my apple tv to play in the living room.

Decided to try out pokemon fire red (didn't want to stare at green/grey for hours). Through the pain meds I made it just past safari zone.

I took a half of Vicodin and passed out. Then I think I had to work the next day or something to that matter.

Playing my (then) brand new copy of Space Quest II, received as a birthday present.  I promptly came down with the worst flu I'd ever had, at that point in my life, and couldn't sit in front of my computer desk, so playing it on the 486-DX2/66 Desktop computer I'd planned to play it on wasn't possible.  What I did have was a 20-lb monochrome-display laptop with two 3.5" disk drives (no hard drive) that I could use while lying down in bed, and a desperate need to relieve the boredom of lying down in bed all the time.

Normally, the Space Quest series was funny as hell, but as sick as I was the jokes just washed over me and it felt like a horror film, to me.  Re-playing that game several years later was a COMPLETELY different experience, but then that early root-maze and the later encounter with Sludge Vohaul felt like I was dealing with Freddy Krueger and Stephen King's the Mist at the same time.

when i got 4 Wisdom teeth pulled at once my parents got me a science set (didn't do much with it but it had a solar panel and a motor...) anyway i remember playing smb3 on the nes.
