RAM Model Mix?

Go to solution Solved by Cacao,

Hello, welcome to the forum!

The RAM will work fine, especially since their specs are pretty much identical.

I Am going to purchase some new RAM from NewEgg and was wondering if there is any reason I can't mix the ADATA XPG with the XPG V2 for a red and black system. Both models are at 1866mhz, 1.5v, and time the same at 10-11-10-30. I know its possible to mix RAM so my specific question is Are there comparability issues with mixing a Version 1 with a Version 2? Thanks for any help or suggestions.

I run my browser through NSA ports to make their illegal jobs easier. :P
If it's not broken, take it apart and fix it.

Are mixing ram kits or ram sticks?

doesn't matter it'll work.

Ok it will work but for good practice i always suggest not to mix RAM.

I would only recommend that to a non techy / non enthusiast.. if someone wants to learn more, I'll teach them or not get in their way.

If they are not validated to run together there is no guarantee it will work. What do you learn from that? How to buy a proper full kit of ram?

I can't believe how naive people are. but I guess I'll shut my mouth before another kid who loves to link me to bs marketing gimmicks comes along. (just like those kids telling me how important the speed of your ram is and what a major difference it makes in gaming)

ooh Linus actually made a video about that topic it seems..

Wish I could find one about this shitty theory.

Wow someone is rude.

Here is proof that high speed ram does help in some games

And if you watched linus' videos you would know how much he recommends buying a complete set of ram for perfect compatibility.

Sorry if naive was a little rude, but I'll use that word for lack of a better one because I think it is naive to trust vendor benchmarks and demo's (take watchdogs as another example on false advertisement)

I don't care what he recommends because he has never even tested it differently and I've been an enthusiast way before NCIX tech tips or whatever was even an idea. So I'm pretty confident in my own knowledge base and don't really need to agree on every single thing Linus says because he does not know everything (though he is quite knowledgeable overall) and he himself buys gaming ram and kits because of aesthetics mostly and because he deals with all sorts of people like I mentioned in my first post "...I would only recommend that to a non techy / non enthusiast..." Linus has a youtube channel and doesn't want people to blame him for when a 1066 Mhz piece of ram bottlenecks their system in the future or some program running slow because of it (non gaming program)

BF 4 is the only game I know of that actually benifits a little above the rest. but those graphs are a little exaggerated and not to mention it being from corsair themselves one of the leading "gaming ram" vendors in the world.  also keep in mind that this is with top of the range hardware
