Best LGA 775 CPU?

Go to solution Solved by Sonefiler,

Get an LGA 771 Xeon and a LGA775 to LGA771 adapter.  To change 775 from 771 they literally switched two pins so that they make more money from seperate chipsets. http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/370354474623?lpid=82

This is literally the best CPU you can get for LGA775

Hey guys, I need a little help with ~2008 CPU technology. I have an older PC, but I have a GTX 760, so to play games like the CPU-raping Watch_Dogs, my old Core 2 Duo needs to take a vacation.

I'm looking into some Core 2 Quads, as the Q8400 is supported by W_D. I have about $75 to spend, via ebay, amazon, what have you. So, can anyone hunt down the best option? If some C2Qs are strong enough to support Steam In-Home Streaming at 480/720p, that'd be awesome as well.

Good luck, and thanks in advance!

Oh thought you said C2Q6600

I agree with @ericlee30. I still have a Q6600, still runs at 3.7 GHz. Runs like a freaking champ for a first gen C2Q.

Funny that you quote yourself for 'added' weight..... -_-

A Xeon would be nice, but it really depends on the actual CPU you are talking about, a pair of Xeons in a Skulltrail board would be kickass, but seeing that OP wants a chip that can handle Watch Dogs, he doesn't need to go that route. An OC'ed Q6600/Q6700 should be good enough for Watch Dogs. I have the more powerful X9650 in my 4th rig, with a 3GB GTX5800 and it runs Watch Dogs pretty well at Ultra setting, but with lower AA setting. Framerates' all over the place but it seems to run smoothly.....will play it a bit more on this setup and see if it's smooth overall....
