Puppy is kind of a pain in the ass to work with, honestly. VERY limited software, from what I have seen. And I would have given up on Linux a long time ago, if I hadn't tried to fix my problems.

 

Fonts giving you a headache again..?

Yeah I have an ancient laptop fugistu Siemens Amilo l300 I installed xubuntu 12.04 LTS then tryed all sorts of different lightweight is to please the 512mb of ram and 1.5ghz celeron and I wanted to try elementary is it claims to be speedy so I made the bootable CD (my laptop only supports CDs) it noted and after 15secconds it gives me an error message regarding my kernal on CPU is not compatible update kernal in order to boot

any thoughts

Not sure. Puppy is really fast, although it's not the prettiest distro out there.

 

It does get the job done, though.

Noooo Xubuntu. It's so much quicker on everything.

Xubuntu is only quicker on outdated machines that cannot run Ubuntu. This day in age, any modern machine can run Ubuntu with ease. Even crappy little $300 Celeron laptops will scream with Ubuntu on them.

Have u try #! Crunchbang? It's better compare to Puppy imo, and it based on Debian so you probably familiar with the package system.

I've heard about it, but (like #!, I haven't had enough time to try it out.

I'm kinda half and half. I'm casual in a sense I just kind of want to install and run with it, but I do know my way around Linux moderately well.
