How do you game?

i play exclusively with my 360 controller. i've always been a pc gamer warcraft II was my shit and so was star wars dark forces and even cod 4 on extremely low settings. but when i was younger i couldn't afford a gaming computer and we had an xbox so thats what i played most often. After finally being able to build my own computer this year(Fx-8320 at 4.5 and r9 290), i just plug in my controller and play. i tried going back to mouse and keyboard and i was god awful i just couldnt get the feel back. Since I started using the controller i'm a million times better, I play battlefield and if i get killed its usually because i didnt see him or the player was better than me. but ive never found it as a disadvantage to use a controller....LET THE HATE BEGIN.

I was a xbox gamer for just about my entire life aside from the last 6 months or so and now i use keyboard and mouse, i picked up the skill pretty quickly and now like it more than controllers.

I run my own indie game company called Color Dragon Studios where we are currently making a 2d platformer game called Small Earth.

I play with both, it varies from game to game.

I can adapt to either, however in FPS games I use the K&M a lot more so it takes a few rounds for me to get back on track with a controller (auto aim/focus/whatever pisses me off though) Also in games such as Naruto I like sitting back and playing on the bed / couch so use a controller however I find myself to be a lot faster on the keyboard. (so the controller is hard mode since it just can't be as fast as the keyboard with some nice bindings)

Razer Naga mouse and Logitech 710+ keyboard primarily but I also use a Logitech G13 gamepad when playing RPGs/MMORPGs

Yarrrrr,

Mouse and keyboard for me, me mateys.

Though playing with just a hand and a hook are hard enough whatever ye be using.

Flight games with joystick, and I wouldn't mind playing racing games with a game-pad if I had any.

Yarrrr, ye be warned lily-livered scallywags

Mixture, both have their advantages in different ways. I would say that -

Mouse > Right hand side of control pad

Left hand side of control pad > keyboard

Oh and re. the poll "mouse and keyboard" is not "old school" the first game to use both in the way they are used now (movement on the keyboard and look/turn on the mouse) was Quake - which came way after controllers. The earliest video games all used some kind of specialised controller, and a control pad is by far the more "old school" of the two.

I don't know how I've ended up with such a differing opinion from everyone else..

Probably because I started playing FPS games on my Xbox 360, and never played on my computer back then because my computer was literally shit... but I really prefer FPS games on a controller, MOBA/RPG with mouse & keyboard, and driving/racing games with those wheel contraptions.

To me, FPS games while aiming with a mouse is complete horse-shit. On a controller I can smoothly drag my crosshair to a target. On a mouse it's so twitchy that I always end up shooting the crosshair way off-target. It's like playing with an additional recoil when I'm on my mouse.

WTF is that thing?

It's exactly what you think it is, but has some controller features as well.

I have a mouse, a keyboard, a gamepad and a wheel so I just use the right tool for the game. It's silly to think mouse and keyboard is the one and only answer to all games.

MKB mostly these days, though I do consider controller use (Still play on the PS3 and Vita).

Still debating on whether I should be getting the G13 or the Sabertooth first as my next piece of PC gaming kit (While I do have platformers and games that would benefit from a controller, I also am having issues with my keyboard's WASD keys not responding after being held down for a few seconds. Pretty annoying to constantly repress, especially when you need to move around a lot and has been a primary cause of death in Titanfall and a source of frustration in Warframe and TF2).

BTW, it is a PS/2 keyboard connected to my PC's back IO through a PS/2 to USB adapter.
