Have you updated chrome since as that is a known bug that has been fixed in current version (I'm currently running version 124.0.6367.79 on windows and don't have that after it was present for several updates a while ago).

That isn't going to work as it's a known bug that has now been fixed, so as I've stated the OP needs to update chrome to the current version.

I don't do it for the aesthetics but because it saves a tiny fraction of bandwidth by not loading the favicons. You gotta do that with speeds that are still measured in K.
