What is the current recommendations in regards to the 16-pin 12VHPWR port/cable/adapter for 40-series Nvidia GPUs?

rlaphoenix

I am soon to upgrade to a Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER WINDFORCE:

This seems to use the 12VHPWR port and includes an adapter cable in the box. With all the press surrounding even "safer" replacement angled adapters being recalled, and if I remember correctly even twice for CableMod's solutions, what is the current recommendation/information I should know? I don't particularly trust whatever adapter cable or setup comes within the box.

My PSU is the Corsair RM1200x SHIFT (1200w): https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0BPMWNGPY

It's mostly an issue on the RTX 4090. Just use the cable that came with your PSU, make sure it's plugged in all the way, check the connection from time to time.

I would avoid Gigabyte cards, they develop fatal cracks near the PCI-E port, poor build quality.

Not to be annoying, but I would rather be on the safe side here and use whatever is recommended regardless if its mostly an issue on the 4090 or not. After all it is the same port therefore same thing can happen, whether or not its less likely or has less reports of so.

It seems the 1200x SHIFT includes this cable in the box, where the 2x8-pin goes into the PSU and the 12-pin goes into the GPU. My main question is how worried I should be about this cable every getting loose or crimped from being angles near the connections.

I got a Zotec 4080 super, they are not as wide as the other brands, which means the cables do not touch the side of my case when fitted. I gather the bending was a possible cause for the melting along with not being fully seated. The cable that it came with also fitted soundly with a click so perhaps the cable issues been sorted now? But I gather there is a next gen connector which isn't being publicised going from a 1 to 3 8pin to a 1 to 2 8pin
