Slow wakeup form sleep

shoutingsteve

I have windows  11 desktop set to put the computer to sleep after an hour of inactivity, but when I wake it back up it takes about 20 seconds (actually I just timed it at 18 seconds) to wakeup.  My windows 7 setup was less than 5 seconds.  Any idea what i can do to speed this up, short of just changing it to "screen off" instead?

It must be true, I read it on the internet...

Get a better cpu or more ram 😅

If this problem has happened recently is most likely bloatware running in the background. Razer Cortex is a good option to fix this. Uses ~50mb of ram and cleans up 2-3gb for me on a 16gb ram laptop (with bloatware being present of course).

Also thinking that windows 11 taking longer to wake up than windows 7 isn't normal is like thinking that you walking slower than you run isn't normal

Can you explain that please. I'd think 11 would be designed more for this world of quick waking portable devices than 7 was.

Well this only really applies to older/lower end computers. Windows 11 has a lot more features that require more processing power and more ram. My friend running on 4gb ram and a celeron 4000 cpu went from 1:30 wake time to ~0:40 wake time by switching from windows 11 to 7.

Also I respect the warrior cats 😆 I got like the first 5 series of it sitting on my shelf

To be clear, the windows 7 machine was different hardware, so the more I think about it, the more it could be a BIOS setting.
