Custom OS worth it?

Go to solution Solved by BoomerDutch,

You can run tweaks using winutil from chris titus tech

Run powershell as admin and run

irm https://christitus.com/win | iex

You then get window and select tweaks you like and apply.

Carefull it does change your system.

And don't touch windows defender.

That project is made by Chris titus tech and here's github page

Hope it helps somewhat.

My pc is struggling to run games like fortnite at 144 fps. I also have a lot of input delay. Is it worth it to get a custom OS like atlas OS?

Can you explain what you think you mean by "Custom OS"?

You need to be a lot more detailed.

What's your specification? How long has it been since you installed Windows?

Re-jigged versions of Windows by third parties are virtually unsupportable.

If it was any other steam game, linux would probably work for you, but i'm pretty sure fortnite is not supported, so idk if there's something you can do, other than debloating windows

A Ryzen 5 3600, GTX 1070, 16gb 3200mhz, 500gb nvme ssd

What I meant with Custom OS is a windows with no bloatware and fully optimized for gaming. I got my PC 2 months ago so the last time I installed Windows was 2 months ago

There's no magic bullet that will make older hardware like a GTX 1070 suddenly twice as fast.

Removing stuff from Windows will primarily save some space on the disk. Disabling background processes will maybe, at best, give you a few percent more performance, but nothing spectacular. And it's easy to break your install if you don't know what you're doing.

Remember to either quote or @mention others, so they are notified of your reply

The only thing to do is lower settings. The windows crap has a slight impact but thats on the cpu and your cpu is plenty good for fortnite.

You have to keep in mind a 1070 is now 8 years old.

Also the custom windows stuff usually stops working for games after a short while or starts performing badly as software cant get updates due to CORE COMPONENTS being removed.

My GPU is more than 10 years old and can run cyberpunk 🧔 and dayz and elder ring on linux tho.

Nvidia GTX 970 6g vram

Fortnite is weak game no?

Does that mean windows is pushing old gpu users out?

I'm jank tinkerer if it works then it works.
