PC freezing and making buzz noise only while gaming

qt0021

Update: I have upgraded to a Corsair RM850x and 3x Arctic P12 A-RGB fans, but the issue still happened. BIOS is on version F5c. After the last crash, my RAM capacity is down to 8GB from 16GB.

Hello all. My PC has just recently started to freeze and make a loud buzz noise (in the headphones) while playing video games. The two games where this has happened so far are Football Manager 24 and Helldivers 2.

When I first started out Helldivers last week, the FPS was very bad, which later I found out that one of the RAM sticks was not seated properly. I cleaned out the RAM slots and reseated the sticks, and have gotten 16GB of RAM, and drastically improved the FPS. But then the PC started to having the mentioned issue. I also updated the BIOS, Windows, and all of the essential drivers, as well as using ol reliable sfc / scannow. Memtest86 was running for 9.5 hours, but everything passed. Even after the facts, nothing has seemed to work. All the system events include the generic "your computer unexpectedly crashed, too bad" codes. All the data from hwinfo64 indicates that everything works normally under high load.

test each individual ram stick

if one ram stick doesnt work in any channel then dead ram stick and you can try reviving it by cleaning the golden pads with a tissue and some isopropyl or water

if both sticks work but 1 - 3 slots dont work then mobo issue and you can try fixing it by scrubbing the ram slots with a new clean toothbrush or if that doesnt work take off all heatsinks + cmos battery then discharge by shorting powerbutton and rinse with water, only needs around a day to fully dry

both the rams and mobo are pretty suspicious here so gotta test both

When you say take off heatsinks do you mean from the motherboard or from the ram?? How do you put heatsink back on motherboard!

wonder if its something on the mobo cause that doesn't seem to be the first issue with ram for op.

I'd just replace the mobo and the ram at this point (the old ram could be tested later to see if it actually was the issue)

Thanks all for the tips.

I have cleaned the ram slots and sticks. I tested the sticks individually and they both work on A2 and B2. Fired up the PC with 16gb. I then hopped on PUBG (playing at low settings), and after 5 minutes of not doing any combat whatsoever, the computer froze and buzzed. I restarted the PC, and got 16gb of ram.

One thing that I forgot to mention. I bought this PC custom built from Cyberpower. This issue has happened in the past for a couple of times when I had this PC for 2-3 days. It has not happened again until now. Also, once in a while, when not gaming, the mouse and keyboard would randomly get disconnected for 3 seconds, then reconnect

I am really leaning toward the mobo issue

Attached is my events of the latest mishap
