SSD speed underreporting - SanDisk External vs Samsung 990 Pro

I have a SanDisk Extreme Portable SSD and a Samsung 990 Pro in the UGreen NVMe enclosure. Both are connected via Cable Matters Thunderbolt 4 cable. The SanDisk SSD seems to be reporting perfectly fine as it's supposed to be 550MB/s read but the Samsung SSD is underreporting extremely: it's supposed to have read speed of 7,450MB/s. Along with that, all other stats are low too. I think it can't be the port because I am using the rear 10G USB-C port. Any idea what's going wrong here?

Yup thats the issue. Thats about the max speeds for a 10gbit usb link. You can't max out the SSD in this enclosure.

10 Gigabit are actually 1,25 Gigabyte. (1 Byte = 8 Bit)
CrystalDiskMark is reporting in Megabyte per second, and 978 Megabyte per second are 7,824 Gigabit per second.
So the port is pretty close to maxing out.

omfg, that's embarrassing. I checked everything to avoid that exact mistake. EXCEPTTTTTTTTTTTTT the enclosure: a quick look at the enclosure because i thought it was definitely 10GB and not 10Gbps. It was 10 Gbps and its in the title the number should have made it obvious too.

Also off topic but the sandisk drives are actively killing themselves due to a known production error where a chip runs out of spec which sandisk has not yet fixed. So make sure there is no data on there that is important. Basically doing a unwanted secure erase where the drive is suddenly blank.
