Lexar NM790 4TB temperatures?

Recently I set up a new PC, based around a 7800X3D, 4070 Super and the Asus X670E-F motherboard. All in a Fractal Design Define 7 Compact with 2 140mm intake and one 120mm rear exhaust. CPU is cooled by a Phantom Spirit 120.

 

What I noticed is that the 2 4TB Lexar NM790 drives run hot even with the motherboard's heatsinks used. My C: idles at about 55°C and Crystal Disk Benchmark pushes that to 72°C. FWIW, I'm used to 2.5" SATA SSDs, which run at approx. 30°C. And yes, I removed the thermal pads' protective film

 

I'd like to know whether this is normal or not, and what I could do to maybe lower these temps somewhat. Other thermals are fine. Cinebench 10 minutes puts the GPU at 70°C max and the CPU at ~83°C. Not yet undervolted, that's still on the list of things to do.

Looks like its normal, it is a pretty fast SSD so no doubt it will heat up.

you have the normal SSD version, without heatsink? Did you mount the thermal pads from motherboard M.2 cooler correctly? there's a plastic sticker on them ( mobo M.2 cooler thermal pads ), did you remove it?

this SSD can reach that tempsunder load, but if it’s without heatsink on it. 
and idle should be less then 55.

Thanks! That seems seemingly normal, then. Still feels warm.

 I'm using the motherboard heatsinks and the protective films were removed. That was a very conscious action of me, it'd be a very basic mistake of course. Though I agree it definitely is on the hot size of things.

If there is no airflow over it, then it would be possible. 
it's perfectly ok for the ssd, just little strange is idle on 55, but then again it's maxio controller.

There is an airflow over it, but not too substantial. Intake at idle is 2x140mm at ~300rpm and exhaust is 120mm at same rpm, approximately.

For this drive. The controller package itself can get quite hot without a heatsink, though.
