TX850M 4+4 CPU socket for 6+2 PCIe cabel

Kabun

I'm currently upgrading my GPU to an 4080 model witch requires the new powerconnector. The PSU ist an TX850M that has only one 6+2 PCIe and the 4+4 CPU connector.

Is it save to connect an 6+2 PCIe cable to the 4+4 CPU socket?

Thanks in advance for answeres!

No, you WILL fry your board at minimum doing that

Edit:

Also they are keyed differently but if you somehow manage to force the 6+2 into the CPU socket you will fry the motherboard.

Absolutely not.

Corps aren't your friends. "Bottleneck calculators" are BS. Only suckers buy based on brand. It's your PC, do what makes you happy.  If your build meets your needs, you don't need anyone else to "rate" it for you. And talking about being part of a "master race" is cringe. Watch this space for further truths people need to hear.

The TX850M comes with 2 PCIe cables. Each cable has two connectors which gives a total of 4 connectors.

Do you mean the socket on the power supply?
On the power supply the sockets labelled "6+2 PCI-E & 4+4 CPU" can be used for either CPU or PCIe cables.

Just get this cable from a local retailer. It has to be specifically for Corsair Type 4, don't get just any random one.

The TX850M should come with two PCIe cables. Did you lose the second one?

If you were to plug an eps (4+4) into a pcie 8 pin without an adapter it would short 12v to ground and kill whatever it's plugged into.

You can use an adapter to adapt eps to pcie, as they're both 12 volts.

But as mentioned your psu should have two pcie cables, each with two 8 pin pcie connectors

on the psu side, the outputs for pcie and eps are the same, you can use either cable in them
