Dream Driver 47

my current setup is for my pc a Logitech g pro x wireless headset, for my speakers the edifier s880db 2.0 speakers, and for bluetooth I use jabra elite 7 pros and lg tone free fp9s, I don't know what part of my setup I should upgrade, my budget is about 500 aud and I can't decide what part of my setup to replace, any help would be appreciated

Do you use your microphone a lot?

Do you have an amp/DAC?

What do you use your audio setup for?

I have a seperate mic but I do really enjoy the fact that its wireless so I would prefer having wireless headphone/headset, I do not have a amp/dac, I use the headset for mostly gaming and I use the earbuds and speakers for music

I'm not sure I understand. Why are you focused on upgrading your audio equipment?

Well, you could continue using your Logitech wireless headset sometimes, I'd add some additional stuff for you to use. Mainly those:

- Sennheiser HD 560S, Beyerdynamic DT 900 Pro X or BeyerDynamic DT 990 Pro. Your option for open-back headphones for music and competitive gaming (multiplayer shooters and other games where distancing, elevation, separation, and other features play an important role). You'd still have the Logitech headset for causal games, bass, and situations where the sound quality doesn't matter.

- a dongle DAC/AMP like the Truthear Shio, Akliam PD4, or Moondrop Dawn Pro. To power your headphones and IEM-s.

- some IEMs to further improve your experience and variability, especially for gaming and music listening (on the go), something like the Simgot EM6L or Truthear Crinacle Zero, or the 7Hz Salnotes Zero 2 if you need the option to be cheaper.

Given your budget you're gonna get one really good upgrade, pretty much anyone who games i advise to get the Audeze Maxwell, without doubt the best headset, closed back headphone and wireless audio device money can buy (if you have an xbox get the xbox variation, if you're just on PC/ mobile then PS version)

If you're planning to use your speakers more then Kali LP6 or JBL 306 (305 are fine if you can't find a pair) are killer active bookshelves that you need some VERY expensive gear to upgrade from.

Given how you're in australia the common $300-ish headphone recommendation doesn't really work (HD600 and it's chassis siblings vary wildly on region pricing) so i'd look at the FiiO FT3, Moondrop Para and Audio Technica R70X if you're interested in trying open headphones. From there i'd just get a Fosi DS1 DAC or maybe a Qudelix 5k but idk if the bluetooth features are really worth it for you. If you just want to never give a thought to amps or dacs again then a used Schiit Magni/Modi stack is ideal (JDS Labs Atom is comparable to Schiit, i haven't used personally so idk if i'd recommend or not)

I honestly can't tell you what is the right call, these are just some of the best options in your broad budget (i went a little conservative because aussie dollars) if you want to save a bit of money used speakers and amps, or even used headphones (providing replacement earpads are readily available) are great ways to squeeze all the performance you can (it's safer than you'd think, expensive/ really made headphones tend to be well looked after because imperfections really hurt value)

i might go with the audeze maxwells but i might go with the xbox version as that comes with a dolby atmos license which might be worth the extra 50 aud on top of the 549 aud base price, they look like the best upgrade for me as if i was to get speakers i would want ones that a all in one systems with bluetooth and everything in one, preferably including usb b/c for high res audio without a dac

Atmos sucks in headphones (most consumer grade Atmos kinda sucks) if you don't have an xbox then there's no point in getting an xbox pair. The most expensive wireless speakers cannot touch what a humble pair of wired bookshelves can do, there are bluetooth dac's that you can hook up to speakers but tbh i'd get Maxwell before anything else

I would say, given my own ethos, to broaden your collection rather than to upgrade.

I would take a look at the Rode NTH-100, it's a great headphone for anything and sounds excellent with onboard audio driving it.  This could be a "what mood am I in" kind of a thing.  Then take the remaining budget and pocket it or get yourself a nice dac or amp.

Otherwise, I hear the Maxwells are great and being from Audeze I'm inclined to agree with that assessment.
