Which freeware can help me lock my harddrive ?

i have a secondary hdd which i need to lock , dont want my sis seeing my stuff when she uses my computer .

 

what free ware can i use to help me lock my secondary harddrive ?  lock meaning even when the drive is attached on another 

 

system , it wont be able to be opened .

Bitlocker is included in Windows 10 Pro & above.

So can use that if you have Win 10 / Win 11 Pro

If you don't have Bitlocker then look at Veracrypt. With Veracrypt you can create encrypted folders or encrypt the entire drive.

Keep in mind once you encrypt the drive if you forget the password that data is gone.

Well, that's what happens if you try to encrypt a disk filled with a lot of stuffs.

Maybe moving the content elsewhere first, format then encrypt the disk before moving the content back in is faster.

just dl it and installed . however it seems really techincal to install ? its non GUI ?

If speed is the issue, all of these are about the same as there gonna be disk limited.

 

You can also use file perissions and don't allow her account to access the files. Physical access can override this though

Of course. It has to rewrite everything on the disk, as would any other encryption software.

 

Read, encrypt, rewrite.

Bitlocker's the easiest and they'll all take the same time, so if that's not appropriate forget about the idea.

Physically removing the drive and moving it to another machine.
