Is the crucial p3 plus a good budget ssd?

AllyPuyo

I'm getting a new budget ssd simply for games and I noticed the p3 plus. It's used in a LTT vid so I wonder if it's a good buy or not. I'm also on a really tight budget, around 40 dollars so other suggestions would be helpful. I also wonder, is there a big difference in loadtimes bettween sata ssd and nvme ssd?

for 40 dollars it feels like a very good choice but is it 1tb or 512gb?
also sata ssd is maxing out at 600mb/s and lasts shorter than nvme sata while nvme speeds up to whooping 12000mb/s on pcie 5.0

I've had good luck with crucial over the years and the p3 has had a good reputation, I think Jayz two Cents also recommended them in a video at some point. Realistically between sata ssd and a nvme ssd in just general use you won't notice a big difference in performance. In some applications the faster read and write does help and make a difference but if price is a big factor I wouldn't make it a priority. That being said atleast where I am the price/capacity difference in negligible.

Check out the LTT SSD tier list. It's pretty helpful.

Virtually no difference in load times. Might change in the future if direct storage (or whatever it's called) takes off, but by then you'd probably need/want an upgrade anyway. I like m.2 drives for their easier install; no cabling to worry about.

Have any proof that their lifespan is shorter? I haven't seen anything that states that.

Find me a drive that says a different value.

Example: 870 EVO SATA is 600tbw, 970 EVO NVME is 600tbw. No difference. The NVME drive is even a newer generation.

Also, that number is simply for their warranty purposes. Drives generally have no problem far exceeding that, into the pb's.

P3 plus is trash tier PCIe 4.0 SSD.
it’s Phison E21T (1-core, 4-channels, DRAMless) + 176l QLC micron.
it’s bad SSD in good price.

some people did notice stutters in games etc, but it’s not usually visible.

it’s slow, updates, and games installation will be slow.
not really any noticeable difference in load times in current games.

If you leave pSLC write buffer, the speeds tanks to 60MBps

usually it’s not recommended, and you can buy p3 in lower price, and it’s the same hardware, just locked to PCIe 3.0
