Windows 11 Pro - Intel I225-V Driver 2.1.3.3 - losing connection while being connected, have to restart pc.

I've eliminated the 5g/4g Antenna

can't be the Ethernet cable.

The motherboard is ASUS ROG MAXIMUS XIII HERO

Ethernet port blinks orange, sometimes orange and green. I have two Ethernet ports, I've had the same issue on both, and the windows update did not solve it.

Windows tells me I'm connected sometimes, sometimes it tells me I'm disconnected but antenna is always connected, always green light.

I've updated to latest windows update. It did not solve this issue but solved other issues, including the updated Lightroom being slow but Nvidia Driver also sped up things.

So now things are faster.

But still not figured out the connection issues.

Should I try the latest driver?

Intel I225/I226 LAN NDIS driver V1.1.4.38 for Windows 10 64-bit and Windows 11 64-bit.

https://rog.asus.com/motherboards/rog-maximus/rog-maximus-xiii-hero-model/helpdesk_download/

I see others have issues with  Driver 2.1.3.3

I see someone did this. No idea if it will solve anything.

I beat my head against the wall on my X670e Aorus Master that uses the same Intel 2.5Gb NIC, same problem. Ended up getting a 2.5Gb expansion card for $30 instead.

I tried a few times to troubleshoot it, potentially just an issue with Windows 11 and that NIC and Ryzen potentially.

I accidentally installed wrong driver so will have to redo it.

Now windows says I got 1.0.2.8not the V1.1.4.38 I installed. what a mess

Windows Update might be messing with it too, forcing a driver 'update'. For me, it worked perfectly fine for months with Windows 11 Pro being the only OS my X670e Aorus Master has seen, just all a sudden would continuously crash. Swapped to Wifi for the meanwhile and made several attempts to fix it, ended up just going with a $30 2.5Gb PCIe NIC. Wifi would be an acceptable option if my firewall/router wasn't literally 1ft from my computer, just felt bad.

Its not an uncommon issue with Windows 11 and that specific NIC. We're not alone in this realm.

I installed wrong driver. But corrected my mistake.

I installed correct driver on both ports.

I will see how it goes. But one thing I had to do for Wifi hot spot to work is to enable it in windows settings. So now I can use Wifi from pc on my phone.

Personally I'd use https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/detect.html

Router:  Intel N100 (pfSense) WiFi6: Zyxel NWA210AX (1.7Gbit peak at 160Mhz)
WiFi5: Ubiquiti NanoHD OpenWRT (~500Mbit at 80Mhz) Switches: Netgear MS510TXUP, MS510TXPP, GS110EMX
ISPs: Zen Full Fibre 900 (~930Mbit down, 115Mbit up) + Three 5G (~800Mbit down, 115Mbit up)
Upgrading Laptop/Desktop CNVIo WiFi 5 cards to PCIe WiFi6e/7

Thank you I did not know of it, I will look into it.

But here is my current situation:

Already on latest Intel LAN driver (1.1.4.38). I have to deactivate the Ethernet connection and activate it again. If that does not work or can't load it at all, nor any internet related which is Network and internet in windows settings, the menu from the task bar too, also Wifi Hot spot gets disabled and greyed out, or/and the pc gets super slow, I have to restart the PC. The power saving is turned off for the Ethernet port, I did it for both ports and WIFI too. Seems like I have to restart the PC after being on for too many hours or days. So eventually I have to restart it. But before updating the LAN driver It could lose connection after restarting, so had to restart twice or trice. Now that does not happen. But now if the PC is on for a few days, I get lost connection within minutes or seconds sometimes.

Wifi driver is up to date.

Have you checked on the support page for your MB?
I have the same Intel NIC on my MSI board, intel I225-V #3. I'm using driver version 2.1.3.15 dated 29/06/23

I haven't had a problem with this, also if you haven't already, you might want to stop windows from putting the NIC to sleep as well, power management tab.

It might help (if windows was trying to be smart being the cause of the issue).

I already did that a long time ago, that was one of the first things I tried before even updating the driver.

I have the latest driver from the support page, which is 1.14.38.

https://rog.asus.com/no/motherboards/rog-maximus/rog-maximus-xiii-hero-model/helpdesk_download/

The driver you have is not listed there.

But I see users had the same issues with the driver I started with, and including yours, but in the link below apparently, but Intel's answer was confusing:

It maybe the latest on release date but not driver version it would appear.
If you click on the show all button under the listed item, you will see all of their versions of drivers. I would recommend trying the others, I would start with the version 2.1.2.3.

I presume your using windows 11?

Thought I had seen windows 11 somewhere, and found Windows 11 pro listed above on an earlier post by you🙂

Edit, I can see that your bios version is way out of date, I would advise to update it as well.
As this may improve things for you. If you haven't already.

I've not felt good enough to even attempt Bios update, maybe later today or in a few days. Need to know how to first, and I don't want to brick my MB. Yes I'm using Windows 11 Pro, it's up to date too.

I've tried them all, first one came installed on the pc, second one , then as the new one came I tried that one too.

Ah I see, its generally a simple process to update BIOS. I would recommend doing Chipset and BIOS

Do you know what MEUpdateTool and USB Audio FW Update Tool are? I guess second one is something to do with playing audio trough USB.
