First day on Intel ARC (just dumping my thoughts)

jooroth18

I figured after a year intel ARC would be more polished, so i bought an Intel NUC Phantom Canyon with the i7 12700H and Arc A770M 16gb for around $600

I will say, when it works, its brilliant. On my 1440p monitor, games are smooth, the system isnt too loud, and it feels far better than my ancient laptop.

However, when booting up a game for the first time, be sure to change settings individually. Certain settings can break the game, and alt f4 doesnt help.

Also sleep is just broken. When i wake from sleep, my system looks like its on drugs, see pic below.

I havent done any emulation yet, i plan to set it up soon when i get the time. I hope the ARC GPU can do it well, im sure it can as most emulators use vulkan, which runs well on ARC.

Dispite the need to troubleshoot new games i install, i have to say this system is still awesome. For such a tiny computer that i can throw in a small backpack with some controllers to play games with friends, its incredible. The best part is it uses the exact same power brick as my laptop.
