if i have a good amount of programs installed on my pc will it hinder my performance even if i have them closed?

I have a decently beefy pc (RTX 3090, ryzen 7 5800X3d, and 32GB 3600MHz cl18 RAM) and I like to install programs that I occasionally use and pretty much not delete them. The vast majority of them only launch when I click on them, and I never let them open on startup.

Will having tons of programs that aren't open in the background affect the pc?

I also have a decent amount of programs that DO open whenever I start up my computer which are: NVIDIA settings, MSI afterburner and riva tuner, AutoHideMouseCursor, remote mouse, steam, and razer central (which have razer synapse and razer cortex)

The only way for storage to affect performance is an SSD that's almost completely full. An SSD will slow down a little bit when it's filled to the brim, but if you aren't at 99% storage capacity it won't really make any difference

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

With your PC specs you shouldn't notice any performance difference between having those programs on or off

Recent build: Fractal Design - Torrent reviewMeshify C / The 1080TI Strix Noctua modDefine S X58 Xeon build  / Specs: i7-14700KF 5.8Ghz - ASUS TUF RTX 4080 super - G.Skill Ripjaws 32GB 4000mhz CL18 -  Gigabyte Z690 Gaming X d4 - Torrent Fractal Design white - EVGA 850W Supernova G2 80+ Gold - Noctua D15

only if they're running in background or foreground... note that many programs such as discord, anti virus, backup programs, nzxt cam, etc, etc, do indeed run in the backgrounds typically and can, and actually will slow your pc down, how much depends on how many such programs are installed and what they're actually doing.

tldr,  anything that runs on your pc will indeed use resources,  and anything that doesn't won't,  outside of storage space.

ok, now im curious how bloated your pc actually is, because that doesn't seem like a lot, pic of startup tab, please?

here's mine for comparison:

Not to downplay your stuff, but this is nothing compared to folks here.  You have the minimum amount of programs for a gaming machine, nothing special.

You may think it's a lot but it's the norm.  Won't bother your machine at all, just enjoy it.
