honestly it would be better than what im doing right now, swimming around without a care in the world instead of studying for exams

Same goes for me except i have been doing nothing but watch animes at home these past 3 weeks cause schools out (starts on jan 8) so swimming is still better than what i am doing now =p

For me, yes. I don't care enough about anything to sink whale levels of money into it.

 

For others who need the validation of LAN parties or, more generally, comped hotel rooms and trips to the buffet, clearly not?

Monetary contribution to anything other than survival and procreation is a waste of money. Being a whale does not assist in either as a human.

In my view, being a whale in anything seems like a colossal waste of money. Take, for instance, those individuals splurging on mobile apps or grabbing every DLC skin in a particular game. Unless you're swimming in disposable income, it's probably not the wisest move. Sure, there are some significant perks, but they don't quite tip the scales enough to justify going all-in.
