Air cooler for the Ryzen 7 7800x3D that does not obstruct the RAM modules

CrazyBene

Hey guys, I am looking for an air cooler, that can easily cool the Ryzen 7 7800x3D (I don't mind if it too powerful), looks clean/nice (subjective) and does not obstruct the view and accessibility of the RAM slots.
I really like the design of the be quiet Dark Rock Elite, but it might overhang on the RAM (I know you can slide the front fan up, but that does not look as good anymore). Do I need to go with a smaller cooler or should I look for a specific motherboard, that has the RAM slots farther away from the CPU socket?

I don't really wanna go with an AIO, I know that they would look cleaner, but I heard, that an AIO only lasts about 3 years.

How tall are your memory modules? Are they RGB and does being able to see the RGB play a role? AK620 for instance just clears Trizent Z5 Neo modules but completely blocks them from view so any RGB would be pointless.

The problem is not the height of the RAM modules, I don't want the cooler to overhang them at all, even if the height is fine.

What case are you using? Where are you shopping / located?

So I am flexible on a lot of things like motherboard and case, but case should not even matter here. I am not quite sure how far the be quiet dark rock elite (or any other cooler) goes to the right, where normally the ram slots are. And I am not quite familiar with motherboards, are there motherboards which have the ram slots farther to the right? And is there a way to (visually) check online where if the cooler works the way I want it to.

Run a single fan on a PS120 or any other dual stack cooler.

Not true unless you buy a cheap one. They average more than 5 years, and I've seen several people report 10+.

As for an air cooler, either find a more accommodating mobo or measure the one you want and find a top notch one to cool it. That's what I did: measure. I was able to eliminate options suggested by others and I haven't regretted my U12A.

You might also want to replace the ILM with an offset ILM for even more cooling.

Without details of your system, we can't really advise you effectively.

I had a similar decision to show RAm modules and found that this worked best for me, I've changed up the orientation of my cooler slightly still blowing air front to back but fan placement like this (im sure youre almost sick of seeing this by now Rev😋) keeps RAM clear and hasnt affected temps by any noticable amount

Ah tis only 4pm, still another half hour to do. 😋

But @CrazyBene, I can provide a pic of cooler in current setup and temps when i get a chance if youd like to see RAM clearance and performance and that

Thanks for the picture. I am now debating if I too will go the road with a single fan on a dual tower.
