recently Started To build a house :)

Xsilent(X)

I dont see any ethernet cables yet

that is going to come when the roof is placed :) you can't place the cables now because of the rain and moisture the building has to be wind and water proof before placing any cable. At least here in belgium.

Corsair is overrated, and Anime is ruined by the people who watch it

For those wondering:

We don't have earthquakes like in America or Japan.

The fault lines that make up our part of Europe are in the middle of the ocean between Europe and America.

On the southern side it runs between Africa and Spain-Italy-Greece-iraq and such, furtherup it goes a long way to India and China, so no chance of us feeling anything that has to do with that.

If an earthquake were to hit the casual house here in the Netherlands and Belgium for that matter, they'd not survive unscaved, as they're mostly built of clay bricks.

The Netherlands has a super huge portion of it's soil made up of clay, since that's been put there by the sea which we did tame but did leave us with that (at some places) meters thick clay layer.

That results in the easy grabbing of these materials, a "cheap" way of getting bricks.

Wood is definitely easier to choose in America, most "forests" are super tiny compared to the forests in America, resulting in more people wanting to preserve them.

We also don't have hurricanes, the worst we get are the remains of hurricanes you Americans get, and those can be pretty nasty still. Those storms lost most of their velocity already before they reach us, but can still uproot trees and in some cases rip houses apart, but those are usually new offices that are made on the cheap.

Tornadoes aren't worth calculating in either, we do get the occasional tornado every year, around 35 spread over Belgium and the Netherlands, but even those are EF0 or EF1. Waterspouts are very common though.

Conclusion: We have little to no threats to our homes here, which is a great opportunity to build a proper house, which insulates better, and has little maintenance to be done.

TLRD; Stone is a good option here.

So many things I could write here... things like this.

Can't wait for the finished result! Subbed

My Dad has just bought a shell of a house (walls, windows, roof) and we plan to renovate it next year, any ideas of what techie things we could put into it apart from Ethernet cables in every room?

Here's the shell BTW:

There's really nothing to see apart from concrete and bare rooms. The most exciting thing is probably that it has windows under the boards.

Hopefully the architect will have the plans drawn by Christmas, so I can 3d model it, and so that work can start next March-May time :)

are the metal wires only in the isolation or are they also connected to the wall?

also is going in the wall ;)

Those are to show how high a layer should be and provide some stability while it dries if I remember correctly from school.

Yes for stability and support also, if the cement drys it will tighten around it giving it more support and vertical stability.
