Upgrading to 3080+

abux
Go to solution Solved by Tetras,

If you play at a high resolution, like 4K, then the CPU is less of an issue, though it does depend on the game.

If it were me, I'd buy the graphics card and PSU first, then only do the CPU if I'm not happy with the performance.

the power supply won't hold it, it should be 750w minimum. Also refer to the PSU tier list for at least tier B units

I would get a 3700X if you can find for under $250 used. If you want new i would get a 5800X.

A 120$ new 5600 is faster.

Also for op check a rx 6800xt its cheaper than a 3080 and at least just as fast. Also more vram

If your running Linux then you'll get better bang for your buck with an AMD GPU since a lot of the extra features that RTX offers won't work anyway. You will still want a PSU upgrade though and CPU would depend on what your doing.
