I am working on this pc: (went with amd due to low budget) but i dont know about a mobo, would a ROG formula V (Am3+, pciE 2.0) work? if there is a good one but cheap it would be better, for better graphics

AMD FX 8350

ASUS gtx 770 (if a cheaper MOBO is found i can go with a R9 280x)

1TB hybrid ssd

600/750 watt power supply, will check what i need

8 GB 2 stick of dd3 corsair vengeance low profile

Cooler Master k280

My PC:

Spoiler

MOBO: MSI B450 Tomahawk Max, CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600, Cooler: BeQuiet! Dark Rock 3, GPU: Gigabyte GTX 1050ti D5 4G, Ram: 16GB (2x8) HyperX Fury DDR4, Case: NZXT S340, Psu: Be Quiet! Pure Power 11 600W , HDD's: WD 1TB Caviar Blue, WD 256GB Scorpio Blue, WD 2TB Caviar Blue  SSD: Sandisk SSD PLUS 240Gb

Sabertooth 990fx r2 is basically the same as the crosshair v formula-z but a lot cheaper, if you want the best board then get those two. The gigabyte 990fx ud5 and ud7 arent bad either though

However, that power supply seems a little bit overkill, maybe 550?

But yeh that is a very solid build and i reckon it will run all games maxed out @ 60

@CookiezFort

Intel i7 4770k @4.5ghz, Asus Maximus VI Formula, Asus Geforce GTX 780, Corsair h100i, Corsair Neutron GTX 240gb, WD Black 1tb, Corsair 750D, Corsair AX860i w/ Sleeved Cables.

I rarely leave the build logs section.

Umm.. the motherboard won't really change which GPU you can get, and the 280x is almost worse than a 770 and has some artifecting problems, but it can also be up to par, but regardles.. thats a waste of money.

price does

Uhh for a FX8350 + ROG you can get i7 + entry level Z87 for same price pretty much...

I'd suggest i5 4670K + Z87 GD45 gaming

Up to you, the 280x has more vram which is great for higher resolutions but at 1080p gaming, the 770 comes in at better performance and price

Not when the i5 begins to exceed the multithreaded performance of an FX 8350.

No. A 5% multithreaded advantage is not going to make it more futureproof. Planetside 2 is a cpu bound game, basically every massive multiplayer games are cpu bound & lightthreaded. I'd rather get a 4670k+cheapest z87 board. Dont waste your money on a hybrid ssd/hdd theyre just shit. Get a simple 450W with the right amperage on the 12V rail to save some costs

Just go with the i5.

i'm on a gigabyte board, it comes with a legacy pci slot adaptor

The big difference between the formula v-z is that the rog board uses an intel nic.

If I had known that earlier, i woulda gotten the formula v-z

the 990fxa-ud3 is as good as the formula v but costs wawy less

im using a Asus R9 280x dcuii OC, i do sometimes get problems with artefacts, but all you really have to do is restart the game and it'll be back to normal again.

I've probably have had 6 times at which artefacts have appeared.

go for a 990FX m/board if your using AM3+

many to choose from, the sabertooth gen 3 is a good buy no need for the ROG board as its for serious oc and advance users type board.

if you want even cheaper look at the other like the Gigabyte m/boards or and Asus M5A99FX pro R2.0 is ok if you like blue colour scheme.

If you can find a nice rev 2 / gen 3 sabertooth is really good board if you can afford it,

got to love Asus components

This. Only reason to get an 8350 is if your budget is under $300 for both board and CPU. Also, only reason to get hybrid is for single-drive laptop usage. You're much better off with the cheapest SSD that you can get plus a regular mechanical drive for storage.

I'm not sure how you managed to see that much of a difference.

CPU:  AMD FX-8350 4.0GHz 8-Core Processor  (£129.59 @ Aria PC)
Motherboard:  Asus Sabertooth 990FX R2.0 ATX AM3+ Motherboard  (£116.99 @ Amazon UK)

A 4670k with a z97 board is even cheaper. If you want to make the amd build cheaper:

CPU:  AMD FX-8320 3.5GHz 8-Core Processor  (£105.99 @ Amazon UK)
Motherboard:  Asus M5A99FX PRO R2.0 ATX AM3+ Motherboard  (£99.99 @ Amazon UK)
Total: £205.98

Sorry but AMD is just too expensive for its gaming performance currently, games where you won't see a difference between the two a 80$ cpu would do as good as them. So it doesnt leave us that many options anymore to compare cpu's except massive multiplayer games which Intel always favors.
