Original Xbox One HDMI no signal

M1N

Hi. I bought a second hand Xbox one a while ago. It initially worked fine, but it started to cut out (the signal) every now and again. I would have to move the HDMI cord around in the port to get a signal back (or turn the console off and wait until a later time to try it again). Then, one day, it stopped displaying completely. I can still turn on the console, and I can navigate the menus with the controller without seeing it and turn it off, turn the controller off etc. I took it apart and it was really dusty (with a few bugs) and cleaned it. To my inexperienced eyes the HDMI port looked ok (as in identical to the other HDMI port on the console). I put it back together but it still doesn't display. What is likely to be causing and how would I fix it? Thank you!

Sounds like the port came desoldered or died. If you can take it apart to the point to see the hdmi port on the circuit board you can prob add some heat to fix the joints.

Hi. Thanks for the advice. Should I use a soldering iron to add heat? Should I replace the HDMI port? Thanks.

I would use a soldering iron but I wouldn't replace HDMI port unless it doesn't work.

Sorry, last question (I am a complete beginner). Do I use the soldering iron to heat up the points where the HDMI port makes contact with the board? To what point do I heat it up? Also, do I need to add more solder? Thank you for all your help by the way!

I would watch a video on how to replace the port and see if you think you can do it. Replacing hdmi ports isn’t reallly a beginner task. If you can you can make the decision on whether you want to replace or just resolder

Tronicsfix channel showed up a lot of times both HDMI port replacement rather than.. .bad jobs done by others replacing.

Not English-speaking person, sorry, I'll make mistakes. If you're kind, maybe you'll be able to understand.

If you're really kind, you'll nicely point that out so I will learn more about write in good English.  🙂

Hi. Just to be really sure before I attempt it, does the hdmi port look ok? Is it soldered properly or is there anything wrong with it? If you can't tell from the photos, that is fine. Also, can I just use the soldering iron and solder or do I need anything else? Thank you. I can't thank you enough!
