alright it worked, now what should i keep on the SSD and what on the hard drive?

AFAIK ideally you move everything over, including the OS. Moving the OS probably requires a new install but having the boot drive be a SSD should markedly improve the experience over a spinning HDD.

The bulk storage of the HDD would be great for long term storage, movies, pictures etc. where there aren't a lot of random read/writes (as in programs running) and you don't mind if browsing files slows down.
