A.) Issues like this can destroy otherwise good companies in so many ways.   Everything from devastating legal issues to driving away good workers.

B.) Human decency.

I bring this issue back up because YouTube in it's infinite wisdom fed me a video that touches on many of the comments raised here about the environment at LMG. How one of the things that is good, can be good, that they portray in their videos can BACKFIRE HARD. Namely the extracurricular activities.

This so much.   Your coworkers are not your friends.  Not necessarily and anything to do with anyone you work with needs to be treated with a degree of professionalism and caution. As a company gets bigger the dynamics this person discusses become more relevant.   Harassment need not be sexual and a hostile environment need not come about due to actual malice.  It can't but it does not have to.

The situations discussed in this video well describe and explain how someone could make an off color off hand remark ... in an environment where 99/100 people are ok with that but 1/100 isn't.   What makes that such a big problem is unlike people you hang with, people depend on their job for food and shelter, and heat.  One cannot as easily leave a job.

if she could get into lmg im sure she could get a better job

Did I help you?? Then please mark my answer as the solution!

Because the accusation was public, claims of looking into it, and quite frankly at that stage it is the audiences right to know given that ultimately it could determine whether or not someone chooses to support them.

As an example, if it turned out to be only sort of true where it's happening at lower levels then I don't think people would have as much of a moral issue supporting LMG...now if all the allegations are shown to have happened by the 3rd party; then I think there would be a lot of people who would never want to touch LMG as a whole ever again.

I believe Linus or Terren did say that they would share the results of the investigation, although Linus seemed very..."convinced" that it wouldn't turn anything up.

All the same, investigations like this, where legal problems can result, often take several months to do right.

I enjoy buying junk and sinking more money than it's worth into it to make it less junk.

Yeah this is exactly why we need to know!

This is correct so, they need to keep their word.

@LinusTech should at least give periodic general updates like the investigation is still going on or it is almost done or something like that. Not complete silence and hoping that everyone will forget with time.

Generally speaking from what I've seen in the past when it comes to 3rd party audits of this kind of nature it rarely is satisfactory in regards to the final outcomes.

From the general issue that some of the times they can only state that they didn't find conclusive evidence of something happening etc...especially if accusations are about the fact that sometimes meetings were done in person without documentation.  It's always difficult to find conclusive proof things like that.

Although in this case, some of the issues in regards to thing like LMG's OF should be a bit more provable one way or another.  Like if it wasn't in her contract, and if they are exposed to members genitalia and she requested it be shutdown then it is a workplace issue that should have been addressed

Let me go ahead and give you the official LMG statement now:

"After completing a thorough internal review, we found a few processes that mayyyybe needed to be tightened up a bit. And we found a situation or two where, in retrospect, we might have had the wrong person in the role. We've corrected those situations, and I'm proud to stand behind Linus Media Group as one of the best employers in the tech space. Now, watch me drop this Xeon on the floor!"

Another thing is that we're talking about Canada, which is very democratic country with a free speech and educated people. I have a hard time to believe that in Canada, in a such popular place as Linus company other coworker males were harassing and mocking her. I mean, it's not some 3rd world country famous with women oppression, we're talking about Canada

It happens all the the time in democratic countries like Canada, the US or UK. Being a democratic country has nothing to do with it.

So you don't trust them enough to believe it's ongoing based on their original statement...but you would trust them if they made a new statement saying its still ongoing? Even though they wouldn't be able to prove such a claim or advise of any preliminary findings.

This whole thing is way too serious to be treated like a soap opera, where you can tune in for the latest update.

Give the people involved the space to get the things sorted out and the right consequences to be dealt out.

You are not personally entitled to be kept in the loop, non of us are. IF that means you wont follow LTT anymore, so be it. This is serious alligations and have huge impacts on all the involved.

Don't come here to satisfy your drama need. Sit tight, wait for the verdict and draw your conclusions afterwards.

Nothing new leaking does not mean that nothing is being done

mITX is awesome! I regret nothing (apart from when picking parts or have to do maintainance *cough*cough*)

I've been part of similar investigations working under the same BC regulations as LMG. There is a lot of confidentiality requirements that need to be followed, both externally via privacy laws and internally. Unless my direct reporting higher-up is asking for a status update, I don't even breathe a word of it to anyone outside of the investigation team. LMG stating at the beginning that they're looking into it is about as much information as they can legally give. Saying any more, even to simply state that the matter is still ongoing - especially for a company as public facing as they are - can bring risks to the investigation.

If they do decide to say something once it's done, don't expect it to say much more than "This issue has been resolved" and maybe something about processes have been changed to reflect the outcome of what has been discovered, if that's what's been found. Something heavily edited and re-edited by lawyers. Anything more and there's a good chance it opens them up to potentially breaching the aforementioned privacy laws.

I would add there could very easily be reasons why as well as legal why much will never be revealed. There will be a duty of care to all involved some of whom may be in a vulnerable situation. Personally I have no desire to find out as long as all parties are happy with the outcome. Surely that is all that really matters.
