Failing a repair job - Am I good enough to work in this field?

A terrible old HP Pavilion shouldn't define your entire IT career. I've destroyed multiple laptops trying to repair them but it still didn't stop me.

It happens to everyone. We got a new drill in 2015. As the mechanic I was playing with it and getting used to it. I ended up messing up a 1.5 million dollar drill rig enough that the factory couldn’t figure out how to fix it.

Turns out a combination of the back hammer button, drill retract, flushing water and air flush buttons was something the factory never though would be pushed at the same time.

I'm not actually trying to be as grumpy as it seems.

I will find your mentions of Ikea or Gnome and I will /s post.

Yeah really not designed to be repaired a lot of the time or only a few times at best.

Even when they are things like plastic clips can just fail with age.

Had that when changing a globe on a work car and when trying to unclip a cover the plastic housing just crumbled in my hand.

It happens but I was not happy about it.

There can be a knack for it, often you look for hidden screws and then try to gently pry open and feel for clips and pressure, ribbon cables you gently pop out the tabs, check for tabs and clips on connectors and just very gently try to navigate your way through.
