The titan wasnt cancelled, its drivers were being naughty

brownninja97

Nowhere did I say ITX.  I said small form factor clusters.  He said whilst announcing it that it was meant to be crammed in with multiple cards in a "server blade" type of case/scenario, and utlized for extreme real-time rendering things.

o ok, yeah that does make more sense, i just cant imagines a bunch of these cramped up a small area, i dont think blade servers function as well when they turn into liquids.

The gtx 690 only hits about 80-85 C max if I recall correctly, and this is a beefier cooler.  It probably won't go above 80-85 even in clusters, especially with that big of a gimp put on the clock speeds. Not to mention the people that use these may not even stress them fully, I'm unsure how much of the GPU+VRAM get utilized by real-time rendering programs.

I don't know why everyone is spazzing about the price so much, or whether or not it's marketed at gamers.  The people that are going to buy it are going to buy it regardless, if they think they need it, who are we to judge them?

Exactly my point, i was confused as hell as to where these suggestions were coming from and what facts were behind them, at any rate im putting an end to them before they spread, the titan lives.

i think who ever lunched this rumor was like "huuuum, i Love AMD, it's a head now in terms of Dual GPU Cards, but, what if the Titan Z Bypasses it ?!!! " so one if his idiot friends said " oh i know, i have a Great idea, let's tell every body that the Damn Green thing is being cancelled, and that way maybe nVidia will do it for Real :D :D :D "and he was all over his Face,.... mmmm, i don't think so Brilliant

So once again no one believed me(that was probably a good thing that you didnt), people said that the titan was cancelled, no idea why they said this as there was no set in stone evidence. Anyways the delays point to driver issues. Nvidia believe that they can make the card more powerful but messing aroudn with drivers, that means no clock changes, it means no cooler or hardware changes, nvidia has impressed us in the past with their drivers however im no giving them the benefit of the doubt just yet, i doubt they can really put it off and increase the performance much. Well then discuss.

http://www.techpowerup.com/200830/gtx-titan-z-launch-delay-drivers.html

If you seriously think the delay is because of drivers, I got a bridge to sell to you cheap. They will use the standard GeForce drivers just as 2 Titan Blacks in SLI. If drivers can make the Titan Z suddenly more powerful, then so would be the case for the Titan Black and 780 Ti but we all know how their recent "magic" driver went.

It doesn't compete with it and never was intended to.  The Titan line is not meant to compete with anything AMD has.  I assume there will be a 790 released to match the 295x2.

I disagree, NV would never think like that b/c they know consumers will automatically start comparing it to AMD cards even before it is release as we already see on these Forums

Hey dont shoot the messenger.

You were doing great till you typed this in the OP:

nvidia has impressed us in the past with their drivers

lol come on now, both sides have been terrible with their drivers. If anything, AMD has been way more impressive with 12.11, 13.8 and 14.2.

Don't give a hoot to what others think and remain a realist :)

Doesn't mean you have to shit on everyone everytime either!

It does not compete... It's twice the price and not even as powerful as the 295x2. nVIDIA HAD to delay it if not cancel it completely and now they're just throwing a bullshit story about optimizing drivers.

how did you know it's more powerful ? cause we'd love to see some Benchmarks, but i think it was just a guess, wasn't it !

No matter what they do or say people will compare them because a lot of people don't think. That and fanboys exist

there ya go, but two things mate :

1-i think the TitanZ Can compete with it, i think, considering the stunning numbers around it

2-i was hoping for some one to feed me a torch of hope about a Dual 780Ti Card to kick the shit out of the 295x2, i know it's not confirmed, but it has to happen

The 3K$ card wasn't canceled ! You still have a chance to put it on your pcpartpicker list and contemplate it while trying to justify to yourself and your bank account that it's worth it, then ultimately questioning your life choices while drinking whisky

In all honesty, who is this for? Is marketed at gamers? Video professionals?

I just don't see a gamer dropping $3K on this especially with the 290x2 out.

Also people cant argue about the titan being better for space, forget itx cases, none of them support triple slots, this is forced to matx and above cases

This forum and a few youtube videos were talking about it, also some of the techs tweeted about it.
