Yes, bought this one late in 2021 and so I am surprised it's dying

50c is hot for a idle drive too. If you could get that cooled down, reinstall and reboot it may work a little better and a little longer. Some drives dont do well with heat like that. Heat creates resistance in the electrical flow, and when that happens it builds more heat cause its trying to use more electric to keep up its specs. Heat and electronics are absolute enemies and it will wear stuff out quickly.

I live in India so that temp is normal. The climate is mostly humid here.

No no no, the higher temperature actually prolong the life of the NAND, you want the NAND to run hot.

but yes, the NAND failed, and the spare NAND block are running below the warning sign ( and you have bunch of errors on the 0E and this means the data could be compromised ). Backup the data, and send SSD for warranty ( remember to wipe the SSD by "secure erase", before sending it in )

What matters is more whether the temp is near thermal throttle (80 C?) under your most common load: Whether it is playing/loading games or copying files.

It is correct that NAND memory doesn't need to be cool or cold and may run a bit better when warm.

OP's "percentage used" value is all zeros. Has anyone stopped to consider that maybe OP filled up their drive?

OP please confirm drivers available space.

Backup is still important here if your drive is failing. Maybe "percentage used" is a symptom if you do in fact have free space.

Is "available spare" not a reference to overprovisioned and/or unused space, which would in fact be low if SSD is full, OP did a lot of writes, and TRIM/garbage collection hasn't been invoked in a while?

"100% bad" from disk info is hilarious, implying that disk is at 100% health/lifespan yet something is bad - SMART is DUMB sometimes because it provides conflicting info like this or chip makers can't agree on what the stat values should actually mean. It sure keeps forums like this in business.

The threshold is 20 hex, he is on 14 hex now. That’s why i said what i said.

the NAND failed, the TBW is not important, it has failed…

It's a 1TB drive and has 441 gigs free 😁

Could dust be an issue? I had to get my PC cleaned recently because it gave me issues

Gotcha. The flash chips do fine with a little heat, warm not hot, its the controllers that need cooling and dont do very well with alot of heat, they tend to throttle everything back until they cool some. Of course much of that depends on which chips, in what configuration by which manufacturer should the threshhold temps be. With humidity adding to your ambient heat woes there, you will def need a heatsink on your drives cause full load operating temps are supposed to be between 50-70c, although imo and experience, i wouldnt run them higher than 50c full load. I have 10 or 12 SSDs that are all Samsung, no RMA's yet and my oldest one, a Samsung 830 128GB is 10 years old and still working great as a external drive.

As far as your question about dust, yes it could interfere with the connection IF the drive was out of the socket when you blasted it and something got in there and then you reinstalled the drive. Other than that, no.

Sorry it took me some time to get back on this thread. I have sent the drive for RMA.

Shouldn't have bought Gigabyte actually😒 My 5 year old Samsung drive is still going strong 😊 Lesson learnt!

even samsung have a crappy QLC NAND in the cheapest of it's SSD, and had a batch of 870 evo on TLC that was bad, and they keep coming up po here...
not the SSD manufacturers, but the specific models and the internal components of them, that matters.

I also have samsung 830 128GB, it's on 27 nm 2D MLC NAND, still going after 11 years.  Bu t now in external USB enclosure, doing for fast external drive.
